:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: (You must have still been awake.. why didn't you join in????)

......not last night we didn't.

......usually not the same hours as the rest of the world.

Sorry.....skip over it! hahaha.

We wanted to give you a mini reminder of what it used to be like before the PC repo... 50 pages a night!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Well there's no going to Greece for me....not at DCL prices. I could buy a car for what they're asking. That's too much for me to justify for cruising. I might have to jump ship to get the Greek Isles done.

You could buy the car and drive? :rolleyes1

Hello

Oh my god what price for 2013:scared1::scared1:

I hope that I book for 4 nights with girls but the dates are not good:sad2::sad2:

Hope you all are well

That would be nice. If I could drive that far by myself, which I can't.....I would meet you at the Hyatt for breakfast. That would be nice.

Oh I should book flight over to NY to meet you both:surfweb: lol

my mother in law told me that she is going to NewYork on 15 March for a week with her friend. Oh lovely!!

Wish I could travel by map when I lived in Jersey... coulda been at work in no time at all!!!

Change is always difficult. As long as your job is secure, don't worry and just go with the flow. Good Luck!

Hey Deb, would you mind going back to your original post here and editing it to delete the quote of mine discussing what's going on? Please. Just a tip I received to only discuss this verbally. Thanks. I've also deleted all mention of anything on FB.

Okay, this post is so far off-topic (not that we have a topic!) it's not even funny, but I know we have a lot of Thieves who live in the East, so I'm hoping someone has some advice.

The situation: Alison has an audition in a couple of weeks at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA that will probably run all day. The next day, we have a campus tour set up at 10am at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. We would LIKE to also see the campus at Montclair State but it has to be BEFORE the Rider tour.

The question: At this time of year, in this area, is it reasonable to plan to drive at night from Allentown to Montclair, then spend the night nearby so as to be on campus early enough to tour around for an hour or so before driving down to Lawrenceville? (We have another tour in Philadelphia at 3:30 that day so it's going to be a CRAZY day!).

The other option would be to stay in Allentown (or somewhere halfway in between) and drive there in the daylight, but I have no idea what morning traffic might be like in that area. Being from Los Angeles, we plan everything around traffic!

Secondary question: If we do drive there in the evening, does anyone know the area around Montclair well enough to recommend an area to stay in?

Thanks! You may now return to your regularly scheduled cruise planning chatter!

Sorry to be a pain, but it would really help me out if everybody who commented on any of my posts regarding the current issue (you know the one i mean) could please scroll back to find each post, click edit, and just delete it all please? I'm so sorry, I know it's a hassle, but I've been advised that nothing should be in print. I wasn't thinking clearly when I posted about this. I know better but just honestly didn't think.

Please and thanks!

Boy Holly.. You're a pain in the A$$ ... but ok... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Ok... here's the best I can tell you..

fly into and out of Newark Liberty airport...

NJ is like LA - traffic sucks... BUT... if you know where you are going - it can be easier...

In this case... Rts 78 and 287 will be your friend. Allentown is straight out from Newark on Rt 78. It should take you about 1.5 to 2 hrs in good traffic.. I'd give yourself some time in there to cushion if you have deadlines. I'd go to Allentown first, stay there overnight, do Mullenberg and then head to Montclair area (which you can get to by going back on 78 to the Garden State Parkway... it's not far from there - we'll work on maps and such when you need them...) I'd stay in the Clifton/Montclair area for the night.. get up EARLY and do Montclair. Know in advance that you will be doing that area around rush hour so the earlier you do it the better. Classes start around 8 or so, so you can get on campus after.

After that.. you get back on the Garden State parkway and go to lawrenceville... you get back on the GSP and take it to the NJ turnpike and go to Lawrenceville. It should take you about 2 hours so plan appropriately. Luckily it's not far to philly from there.. You'll have to tell me where in Philly so I can tell you the best way to get in there from the Turnpike. there are several ways, but it will depend on which part of the city you have to go to.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with!

Tracy... on second thought... you can fly INTO Newark and out of Philly if you come by southwest... they fly into both.. :thumbsup2

And if you stay in the Clifton area.. you can go to the Tick Toc Diner which was featured on Diners Drive in's and dives...

DONE....I went back and deleted everything from page 6 to page 14. Other people should look at those pages too, there's a lot more then just mine.

Any thoughts that she may stay in MED for the winter? (which doesn't make sense since most other cruise lines send their ships to the Caribbean for the winter) because i want to do a WBTA.....:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

Karl

Karl.. I heard a "rumor" over on one of the threads that the staterooms on the magic are due for a total overhaul... and that the WBTA's details are being worked on and will be out soon... :thumbsup2

Are you doing a Cat 3 again?

I deleted what I could find...

But I left the one with the  cause I think you can always use a hug no matter when!!!

OMG Tracy....are you telling me that you're going from Allentown to Montclair to Lawrenceville to Philadelphia in two days??? That's just crazy. It's not the traffic that you have to worry about.....except for rush hour which is 7-9am and 4-6pm. But the distance that you have to cover is large. And you going from PA to NJ back to PA. That's nuts.

Allentown is about a half an hour from my house. Montclair is near where John works in Newark NJ and it will take about 2 hours to get there. From Montclair to Lawrenceville will also take about 2 hours to get to. Then going to Philadelphia from Lawrenceville will be at least an hour if you go through Trenton NJ and over the bridge into the city. Then you have city driving and it goes slower.

If you're absolutely set on doing this, I would do the audition in Allentown and immediately drive to the campus in Montclair and stay locally. I don't know of any place specifically, but you can check with orbitz or kayak. Then you have to allow two hours to drive to Lawrenceville so you would have to leave by 8am. Then I would allow at least two hours to get to Phili so leave by 1:30pm. You are going to be doing a LOT of driving. And that's provided you don't get lost anywhere along the way. You can do it but it's going to be brutal. Good Luck!

I hope this helps you.

MY best idea (from living in the area...) and since it is RIGHT off the GSP... is to go a little bit north of Clifton/Montclair to Saddle Brook... it's only about 15 minutes north of Montclair.. There are several hotels there.

I'd go with the Marriott I imagine..

Or if you want to stay near the Meadowlands (you can go right out Rt 3 to Montclair (it will take you about 1/2 hour or so.. you will have rush hour traffic.. but most of it will be going in the opposite direction to the city...)

Thanks, so much, Michelle & Deb for your advice. Yes, I know we're absolutely nuts, but you've got to remember, we're coming from California and she is auditioning for most of these schools sight unseen! If we have a chance to see them and it's not going to cost us a lot more than we're already spending to get there, we're going to TRY to take it! Of course if there's any kind of storm, all bets are off!

We actually already booked our flights, and we're flying into and out of Philly. Coming into Philly the night before, then driving up to Muhlenberg early in the morning on Wednesday. We will be done there by around 5:00ish, so we can plan a fairly leisurely drive from there to wherever's next.

However, if what Deb is saying is that we'd have to leave Montclair by 8am in order to make it to Rider by 10am, I'm thinking we probably shouldn't try to do Montclair at all. We couldn't book a tour there and we'd just be driving around on our own anyway, so perhaps it would be best to just skip it and drive to Lawrenceville on Wednesday night instead, yes?

Unfortunately we're stuck with the tour times the schools have available. If it had been up to me, I'd have done a tour at 8am at Montclair, noon at Rider and 4:00 at UArts but we didn't have that option! (I guess I could call the schools and ask if there's any possibility of getting a private tour. Just now thought of that!).

Anyway, we have a free evening in Philly unless the school is doing a show, in which case we'll go to see that. We fly out at 11:30 on Friday. If I could have, I'd have taken yet another day but she's auditioning in Chicago on that Tuesday before and in L.A. on the Saturday after so this was the best we could do!

Michelle, the school in Philadelphia is in downtown, at the intersection of Broad and Pine, if that helps in our planning!
