Thanks, so much, Michelle & Deb for your advice. Yes, I know we're absolutely nuts, but you've got to remember, we're coming from California and she is auditioning for most of these schools sight unseen! If we have a chance to see them and it's not going to cost us a lot more than we're already spending to get there, we're going to TRY to take it! Of course if there's any kind of storm, all bets are off!

We actually already booked our flights, and we're flying into and out of Philly. Coming into Philly the night before, then driving up to Muhlenberg early in the morning on Wednesday. We will be done there by around 5:00ish, so we can plan a fairly leisurely drive from there to wherever's next.

However, if what Deb is saying is that we'd have to leave Montclair by 8am in order to make it to Rider by 10am, I'm thinking we probably shouldn't try to do Montclair at all. We couldn't book a tour there and we'd just be driving around on our own anyway, so perhaps it would be best to just skip it and drive to Lawrenceville on Wednesday night instead, yes?

Unfortunately we're stuck with the tour times the schools have available. If it had been up to me, I'd have done a tour at 8am at Montclair, noon at Rider and 4:00 at UArts but we didn't have that option! (I guess I could call the schools and ask if there's any possibility of getting a private tour. Just now thought of that!).

Anyway, we have a free evening in Philly unless the school is doing a show, in which case we'll go to see that. We fly out at 11:30 on Friday. If I could have, I'd have taken yet another day but she's auditioning in Chicago on that Tuesday before and in L.A. on the Saturday after so this was the best we could do!

Michelle, the school in Philadelphia is in downtown, at the intersection of Broad and Pine, if that helps in our planning!

I would skip Montclair then. Just go from Allentown to Lawrenceville then to Phili. That would be a lot better. Flying in and out of Phili is good because your first stop is Allentown and your last stop is Phili. So that really does work. If you had more time we would visit you in Allentown. But you'll have to drive right after the audition to Lawrenceville. I would probably drive back thru the city to get to Lawrenceville from Allentown. It will take you about 2 hours. Then sleep near there, but beware.....Trenton is not far from it and that's a BAD AREA. If you drive thru it, lock your doors and don't stop for anything except lights and stop signs. But if you stay on a main highway you should be okay.

Yes Tracey... Eat at the Irish Pub on Walnut St!!! :woohoo::woohoo: it's by Jefferson Univ. hospital.. and I spent lots of time there with my injury.. so I ate there a LOT!!!

Center city is really easy to get around... it's a smaller city than NYC thank GOD!!!

If you have the time... go and see all the historical stuff... you'll have to check times though.. I'm not sure the hours.. but I can say that most of it is within blocks of each other.

I'd say go to Lawrenceville from Allentown. It will be Rt 78 to 287 and the turnpike. You won't really have to worry about the traffic then... it IS crazy near NYC in the morning and you can never tell what the traffic will be.

check and see on the school's website to see if they have hotels nearby.. but it's near Trenton so there should be.

I can give you instructions on how to get into the city when you need them.

I have stayed at the sheraton Society Hill.. it's very nice.

Shell, is it shorter to go thru NJ from Allentown to Lawrenceville or back thru Phili. I say Phili. I think 78 to 287 is a long ride. From Allentown to Phili is 45-50 mins. then over the bridge and you're in Trenton and it's right there. I just said to allow 2 hours because I always add extra time for delays. What do you think is the better way to go?

Nevermind, I'm thinking of Camden not Trenton as being a bad area. I would go back thru the City. You could even stay in the City overnight and then travel the rest of the way in the morning.

I think it's a toss up... I've driven both... there really isn't a more direct way.. at least on the Jersey highways.. I know it's basically just that.. highways all the way.

OK but if she takes I476 and turns off in Norristown onto I276 and stays on that to I95....it will take her straight into Lawrenceville. And she will stay out of the city completely. That ride should take less than 2 hours.....maybe 1 1/2 at the most.

Thanks Deb and Michelle, I'm sure others will to. I received a phone call suggesting this. Sorry, I know it's a pain, from now on I will think before posting. :(

I deleted what I could find...

But I left the one with the  cause I think you can always use a hug no matter when!!!

Needing lots of those right now, even more today than before, so thank you.
