Ian, congrats to Sukie on his book!

It is a shame that the Wonder seems to have lost the magic. One of our DCL cruises was less than Magical...pretty much along the lines of what you posted. I wrote DCL a long letter listing all of the little cutbacks I had noticed. They were all little things but they all added up and detracted from our cruise. I am still very annoyed that DCL got rid of the Steel Drum Band. On a Bahamian or Caribbean cruise that is a must for us.

We have been wanting to do a Southern Caribbean cruise. If DCL doesn't offer some in 2013 and we are able to cruise we will consider Princess Cruise Line. My cousin loves Princess and has been wanting us to go with them. Depending on our experience on the Dream in Sept. and the 2013 DCL itineraries we may jump ship. Never thought that I would say that.:upsidedow

Thanks!

Funny you should mention Princess because that's one of the lines I had entertained trying.

Ian,

I've heard really good things about Princess, Holland America & Royal Caribbean. I actually have friends that are true to each of those lines, as we are to Disney, so I have personal accounts too.

I was looking that the HAL cruise from San Diego to Hawaii before DCL announced their cruise.

KATHE'S GOING TO HAWAII!!! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2::cool1::banana::dance3::yay: :cheer2:

I was able to do some wheeling & dealing and we now have.....

Room 1 - Holly & Kathe
Room 2 - Monica & Cheri
Room 3 - Marlene & Noel (Noel will let me know today if she's a go, if not, Marlene has a friend to approach....if that's a bust, we'll be looking for another roomie!)

It's nice and sunny here today. I'm off to shop some more! I need to get a present for my MIL. It's her birthday tomorrow and I will be going to her party after work. Also need to pick up a couple of Mother's Day cards to mail before I leave. I'm meeting a friend for shopping and lunch too, then need to start packing stuff up. I also have a walk "scheduled" with Sara when she is finished work for the day. Guess I better get moving! I just got confirmation that I was able to secure tickets for Jimmy Kimmel while I'm in Hollywood with Sara and Trevor :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a good day!

Ian,

That's good to know and good to keep in mind.

I can't believe that I already have 2 cruises booked for 2012.

There was an announcement that my company is going back to shutting down for the week between Christmas and New Years, but as a result of this I lose my 2 floating holidays, which sort of bothers me.

I had started to think about doing a Christmas cruise.

The negative is of course the pricing. The positive is that it would use up zero vacation time. This is something I really need to do some serious thinking about.

Yay! Glad all the Hawaii arrangements got completed! (or very nearly) If Marlene will still be needing a roommate after that all shakes down, be sure and let us know.

Well, the queen procrastinator will have a busy weekend. Saturday is tax day and Sunday is back in the office to get some projects done before my vacation. So glad it is a holiday in the District of Columbia today and we have an extra weekend to do taxes!

Off to check the assorted cruise threads before hitting the shower!

.P.S. Ian, I still promote the TWO cruises over Christmas idea. Hey, do the 12/15 to PR and then ANOTHER cruise line over Christmas week to 'test them out' and probably pay less than DCL. As our pal Noel would say....just my thoughts.

Thanks for the reminder - I've just added pick up Mother's Day cards to my to do list.

Congrats on the Jimmy Kimmel tickets!!:happytv:

Not a bad idea. I just checked and used 12/22/2012 as a comparison. For an inside stateroom, a Caribbean out of Ft. Lauderdale is $1,300 cheaper on PR than DCL.

what ship??

what ship??

The Caribbean Princess and the Ruby Princess. The Grand Princess for a 12/29/2012 sailing was about $300 more, but in this case DCL was less by @$300. I suspect because the targeted markets are different. Adults would probably want to be home over Christmas to see the family, but a family cruise would be popular, whereas by 12/29 kids will be going back to school but adults would like NYE cruise.

good luck Monica!!

ugh I had to get two new tires today....over $500.

I would have never noticed...but on Thursday Haley and I went out to dinner...as we left the restaurant I saw something shiny and looked and about a 3 inch patch on the inner side of the tire had the threads poking out...so it had to be rotated around and parked just right to be able to see because the rest of the tire is fine...who knows how long it has been like that!!!!!!

any exciting weekend plans? Samantha has a game tomorrow and then probably just much of the same .....cleaning house!

My sister is going on Regent Navigator in June to Alaska... we thought of barging in on her yearly anniversary trip... but the ship seems way too :snooty::snooty::snooty:

Nice to see the Magic and the Wonder make it 1&2 on the Mega Ships list...

I wonder what the Dream will make next year...

I think the 2nd interview went well....they said they should make a decision Monday or Tuesday.
