Happy Thanksgiving to all our US Friends.

Thanks!!! Would you like a Turkey Sandwich? :goodvibes

Sorry, got to get to court. No time to reply to other posts. Love you all, have a great day.

didn't you tell them that it is a FEDERAL HOLIDAY and you couldn't POSSIBLY go to court???

You can all officially be jealous of sister Dianne, she's dining at Eastwood Manor tonight. I tried to tell he she needed to bring a green bean casserole,:rolleyes1 but she was too smart for me.

.

Jackie... please have Dianne post a review of the dinner at Eastwood Manor... I hear it is a respectable establishment and that we might be interested in making reservations to dine there next Giving of Thanks... ;)

Now I'm settling in at home. I'll check facebook while watching the Raiders lose to the Cowboys....then I'll take a little football nap so I don't have to witness the slaughter.;););)

I got to sleep at 9:30 this morning.. so I got up at 1 and then took a nap for an hour... hoping to sleep at a regular time tonight so I can drive down on Saturday... it's supposed to be cold, rainy, and blowing snow for the next two days... oh happy happy joy joy!!!

For those of you on facebook...there are new installments of "An Eastwood Manor Thanksgiving"

Hopefully they will be showing up here for those of you not on facebook...

.

Yes Ian, please don't forget about those of us who are facebookless :flower3:

Jackie, how was your day? What movie did you end up watching?

We're back from dinner. I'm full but not overstuffed. Dinner was delicious. We like this place so much better than last year and we're glad that we're going back for Christmas. Unfortunately, I just realized that we didn't take any pictures of me and John all dressed up. Oh well. Here's the pictures that we did take.

Looks like a really nice place Deb, glad you enjoyed your meal. It's nice to know you can count on a great dinner for Christmas too now. Was this your first time dining there?

Well, the sleep obviously put you in a good mood :laughing:

I hope you do sleep well tonight Michelle. Enjoy your weekend, and keep that snow to yourself ;)

News on the job front: Had my 2nd in house 3rd interview today completed a request for a background criminal check (I'm screwed huh) expecting an offer on Monday. Still debating but tending towards the job rather than contracting again :thumbsup2

Woohoo :cool1: Good luck Nan :wizard:

I'm looking forward to my day off tomorrow. Having a girls shopping day. I know I won't accomplish much shopping, but I'll have fun and hopefully get some ideas for Xmas presents for my daughter and my son's girlfriend who are sharing the day with me.

We're also going to visit my great nephew who was born about a month ago. I've only seen him once and very briefly. He is my niece's son. When my neice was born, she seemed fine and healthy, but 3 days later had seizures and had to be rushed to a children's hospital and was put into an induced coma for a few days. She spent a couple of weeks in the hospital and was on medication for about a year. They never did find anything wrong with her. She was gradually weaned from the medication and has been fine ever since. Well, her son, my new great nephew, started having seizures 3 days after he was born! Same thing, they've run all sorts of tests but are not finding anything wrong. He is home now and will be on medication for a while. Very scarey, but we all know how everything turned out so well for my neice so that helps.

My son still hasn't found a job:sad2: He is looking into some retraining opportunities though, and his girlfriend has had two job offers this week! They are both for part-time positions though and for very similar shifts, so she will have to choose just one of them.

Serenity is doing something new just about everyday! We really notice a change since she is staying with us for half the time. She adores her dada and he adores her  So nice for me to see :goodvibes

I know I've missed a number of posts, but hi to everyone :grouphug: Hope everyone's keeping well!

Well... they did say the snow was going to be north and west of Albany... isn't that where you live???

Thanks for the congrats on the pending job offer BUT - It will mean no TA :sad1: Pretty freaked out about the being tied down part, but we need the money so for now I think I need to take the work :guilty:

Just tell them ahead of time you're leaving for Alaska in '11... ;)

I'll take some of that snow please!

Well, it was a nice Thanksgiving, but I have to admit, next year, since it will be Tyler's dad's turn to have him for T-day, I'm not going out of town to do the family thing. I like taking a break from it sometimes. :thumbsup2

Well, I didn't go too crazy today, definitely used up all my points and all my remaining weekly points, BUT....I definitely ate way less than I usually do for Thanksgiving. Tomorrow I'll get right back on track and plan on getting to the YMCA for some exercise each of the next 3 days. :thumbsup2

Me too... and I only had 1 slice of mom's pie... ;)

I'm bothering my niece tonight...

She's leaving college for a semester... :rolleyes1 (which isn't such a bad idea...) but she's going to coach swimming and then go 4 wheeling and surfing the rest of the time...

I think she's just pi$$ed because her cousins are going to Denmark and Austria for semesters and she can't afford to go...

My brother said she needs time to "find herself" to which the QM told him that when HE wanted to find himself... SHE gave him 24 hours to do it...(he went back to college...)

She says she's going back but she doesn't know to what college...just not the one she goes to now...

Anyone want to take bets on how this turns out???

I would love a turkey sandwich, thank you!!

I forgot to tell the court officials about the federal holiday!!! Tut!

Hope you managed a good sleep last night.

So Marilyn, how was your first day in court? Hope it wasn't too bad

First day was Monday and the practical side etc wasn't as bad as I thought. I was sooooooo nervous. However the case is pretty serious so is quite tiring. It is going on at least 3 days longer than they thought so some poor jury members will be in their 3rd week which is bad for some. One girl and her husband own a bar just down the road from the court in York and it is such a bad time for them to be without her. She asked the Court clerk is she HAD to do it and nearly had her head chopped off!!! The jury is a good group and we do have a bit of fun when not in court.

Have a nice day Kathe.

Sorry to hear about your great nephew. Hopefully things will settle down, but very scary for all.

Hope something turns up for your son.

We have this morning off court as a witness couldn't get there till this afternoon. It feels so relaxing.

Morning Marilyn! Your jury experiences sound interesting. Richard did jury service a couple of years ago and he was up at the Old Bailey! He loved it - mainly because it was the summer, the weather was good and he had two weeks of working about half the hours he did normally!!! He went into work first a couple of times but in the main he just enjoyed the experience... :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

I'm in court the week after next as a witness. Almost 18 (yes, eighteen!!!) months ago, I spotted a guy in my back garden and told him to get out because he was upsetting my dogs!!! Anyway, turns out he had been allegedly trying to burgle the house next door. I gave a statement and that was that. Except it wasn't - I had to give another, more detailed statement (to the most obnoxious member of her Majesty's force who totally appalled me with his racist/sexist/everything 'ist' overtones, BTW) and then a few months later had to do an ID line-up. I couldn't ID him - over a year had elapsed at this point and I'm not great with faces at the best of times. I hoped that was that. Not on your Nelly!!!

So here I am, close to Christmas, with plans coming out of my earholes and I've got to allow a day to tell the court that I don't know anything, I never knew anything and I have nothing to say... I've had to keep the week free as they can't tell me until the afternoon before when I'm needed... :faint:

Oh Karen, I feel for you:hug: I so hope it all goes smoothly and you are in and out of court speedily.

I would love to be on a British jury. All that tradition. All those wigs!

I have served on a jury twice, once when I lived in Brooklyn, the case was double murder, or at least that's what I think it's called. It was a pair of brothers, one would do the murder and the other would bump off any witnesses.

The other jury I was on was here in Chicago, a drugs case. It lasted a few days, we heard testimony from several undercover cops and watched hidden video of drug deals.

In both cases the courts and everything about them were pretty gritty and grimy with Chicago being the most, shall we say, "atmospheric."
