I hear booze will do it for most of them... :rotfl:

It will work for me.;)
bubba... you joining us on the b2b?

Cause you know... we need you guys... :goodvibes :goodvibes

Well, since Holly found the reason for the 2 week gap in Sept. it looks like we are in for the B2B.

Bubba... would you promise to bring me at lease a little sip of what a really good tequila tastes like??? You know me... I suffer with rot gut...

Don't worry, we got you covered.

I wonder if they will do Pirate night or something else... :confused3

& I wonder if we might see the Northern Lights???

OMG, that is right up there on my list of must. That would be so awesome.

Northern Lights are a definite possibility! That would be cool to see from the deck ::yes::

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
I know, that sucks! I wasn't planning on trying to come up with the deposit so early. :scared1: But I did some re-budgeting and will be able to swing it. :dance3: And then when I get my tax refund back for this year, I'll be able to fully pay off my balance! :cool1:

We (hopefully) will luck out on the booking date, this is the exact date when final payment is due for the dummy date we booked on board. So if I can just transfer to the wonder, our deposit is already taken care of.

When doing a B2B, do you get to stay on board at the transition period or do they kick you off?

Will it be 2 cruise threads on here or just one?

oooh, 2 good questions....I'll leave the thread number, 1 or 2 to Michelle, and we are thinking about doing 2 different cat. on each, so I guess we would have to pack and leave and the do a complete reboard.

Recent reports have people getting off for an hour or two - not having to take their stuff or anything though. Plus I would imagine we have to get off to go through customs.
Do you think they would move my luggage to a different cabin if I did different cats?

Don't get your heart set on the Northern Lights. I thought they were around spring and fall, but its most common in Sept-Oct & March-April. So its possible in May and would be cool, but it has to be very dark to see them, so if it happens, it'll be late at night.

Curious about the alcohol rules that you are allowed to bring on board if you are doing the first B2B.

I know with CDN Customs you are only allowed to bring in a certain amount (1.14 litres per person = 38.5 US oz) of alcohol (I know as CDN's we are only allowed to bring back 1 litre per person from the US - kids don't count).

But if it is staying on board does it matter??? It would definitely matter when you get off in Van. Just curious how that works.

Also, curious if they will be selling some good beer on board for the Alaskan cruise, seeing as how there will be manymore CDN's with it being out of Vancouver... ;)

Hi guys!

Michelle told me about what was being talked about here over on Facebook . . .

It sounds wonderful, but I doubt we can join in as I thought about it. If the plan is to go on the repo then the first Alaskan . . . primarily because school will still be in, and Sophia will be in 5th grade. That would be right about the time of proficiency testing in Ohio - a big no-no for pulling kids out. :sad2:

Especially for a school board member . . .

On the bright side, since the Alaskan cruises are all summer, there are lots of opportunities to go once school is out. Is anyone else with kids thinking this way???:confused3

I sure would love to see everyone again, but I just don't think that time of year with 5th grade will work for us.

We're planning to pull the kids out, but there's no worries for standardized tests for us. Shaelyn will be in grade 4 and Kaleigh will be in kindergarten.

Kaylee said she's leaning towards a summer cruise. :goodvibes

Normally Shannon, I have no problem with that. Just rotten timing as to grade level and testing . . .

I have pulled both kids out for a week every year to do something like this.

i've heard there's a lot of emphasis placed on the standardized testing in the states. I know they do some up here, but its not emphasized as much.

Well John....Lisa W and I are talking about a midsummer cruise! The April/May sounds good for 13 days, but a no go for the weather and school situation. I'll let the rest of the thieves warm up the boat for me! :thumbsup2

Way too much emphasis Shannon.

You know, "No Child Left Behind"

You guys need to let me know what you are thinking, and what you consider to be best weather-wise (of course if you don't mind us coming along;))

I am also trying to find out if Vanessa and some folks with kids from our other cruises (Geeks who Lisa knows) might want to go later in the summer. Is Nan thinking later or doing the b2b?

I would have said WAY WAY WAY too much emphasis! It is annoying to no end. They actually said at Jaide's open house that they changed the way they taught so they could get better grades on the tests...just wrong IMHO!

When I was texting with Nan earlier today, she was thinking that the B2B sounded good. She is setting sail tomorrow so I will talk to her when she gets back. I went this year around July 4th and had amazing weather (of course it was a fantastic AK cruising season). I will let you know what we are thinking. Been emailing V all day today, but no word yet from her. August is usually out for me because of conventions and the Jr SeaGals program (and of course preseason games). So, I am leaning towards sometime in July. Will keep everyone posted on what I come up with!

:wave2: How is everyone doing? That was exciting news this morning. I think Alaska would be fun - I was also crossing my fingers for Hawaii in the mix. We couldn't do the May cruise...we canceled our April transatlantic b/c we found out middle school and missing time is a no-no around here. So I think we would go in August before school starts up again. We have a placeholder cruise right now...so will for sure change. I just don't know if I can be happy with only 7 days!

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm huge! Got 4 weeks to go. Got gestational diabetes with this pregnancy so such a pain - have to test myself several times a day and take insulin. Good news is maybe the baby can come early! STILL have not come up with a name. Right not the ones in the running (besides Penny of course) is Kylie, Abigail, and Isabel. Argg.. hormones make me think all names don't work. I also like Annie, but that is my sister's name who we see/hang out with all the time, so might be confusing as she gets older... any suggestions???

We are trying really hard to focus on education FIRST with the realization that the scores will follow. It is really hard though, as buildings need to score well or be labeled failing or some other nonsense.

There is a lot of pressure on teachers . . .

On the positive side, our school district was rated Excellent this year! Two years in a row!

Congratulations! :woohoo:

I've missed a lot I guess not being here as much.

I think there will be a few people that expand and cruise the new areas, but I think a lot of repeat cruisers will stay in their geographic area. I think it'll bring in some new people. For example, for those on the west, the cruises got a lot cheaper now that we don't have to fly across N. America to get there.

Personally, I think the CM's are good at faking who they remember, and for sure, the servers are told when they get a repeat cruiser, so they can act like they remember. Disney is all about providing an experience and being 'remembered' is part of the experience. I'm sure there are some cases of honest remembering, but not all.
I used to think they fake the remembering people, and I called one of them on it one time. One cruise, we saw our servers from a year ago across the dining room in a different section. They came to us on the first night and said, "Oh, you're back!" or something like that. I said something like, "We remember you, but there's no way you can remember us, but I hear you guys do a good job pretending!" I don't remember the servers names, but one told us he didn't remember our names, but he reminded us of a night at dinner when one of the cruisers at our table spilled a drink on the table (Bethany) and Tyler stood up and yelled, "Quick, somebody call 911!" He was 4 years old and it was hilarious! And my coworker has had a couple experiences....one time a bartender I think, was walking behind her the first day of a cruise and was yelling her name, and she turned around and he said "I thought that was you Jan!" It had been a couple years since she cruised. And another time, the guy who was her room steward one year was her DAUGHTER'S room steward 3 years later, he saw a picture of Jan and her husband on the desk in the room and asked her daughter (not knowing she was her daughter) "How do you know Jan and Dave?" That was crazy! All the other stories I've heard about CMs remembering people are like that....names and all. It's kind of creepy!!!! :scared1:

Maybe you'll have to wait for her arrival and then the name with jump in your head! wow, only 4 weeks left! looking forward to seeing a picture!:goodvibes

I'll help with the crocheting of scarves too :woohoo:

With the scarves (Michelle, Shannon, Lisa) do we already have our first fish extender team?

Sounds like a plan!!

That reminds me - I need to order the rest of my FE gifts for the cruise we leave for in 3 weeks :scared1:

I would think that if the first year of Alaska is successful, that they do it again.

All right! I'm on a team! :cool1:

Ohhhh what have I gotten myself into???????? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

(i'm in..... :thumbsup2)

But we're still going to have to have FE gifts for the first cruise too... ;)

Yeah.. you do... not sure how they will handle the customs, etc but if you do a b2b now... they process you first and you can get back on the ship while everyone is waiting to board... I have a feeling we're all gonna be waving to Nan at the terminal causes I don't see her doing the 1st part that stops in SF... :rotfl:
