Holly, I could repeat this post again today. Lovely warm sunny day....but started to turn cool and cloudy this afternoon. I just got home from work a bit ago, and it is now dark, gushing rain and thundering and lightning once again

Its a lovely sunny weekend in our area. My parents came to our town to go camping at 10-Mile Lake, and they took our girls with them for the weekend, so Ken & I are enjoying our kid-free weekend. We went out to Shark Club for lunch since it doesn't allow children.
I do kinda miss going to the pool with the girls this morning, but my Mom took them so they still got their swim lesson and play time, and I got to sleep in
Calmom - love all the pics!
Deb - You're doing great on the WW plan!
Hi to everybody! I'll check in again tomorrow![]()
Sounds like a great surprise for Tyler!
What day is his actual birthday?
SHANNON!!!
Fun day here. My mom emailed me this morning telling me she and my aunt would come to town today to bring birthday gifts for Tyler. They came while I was out picking him up from his dad's and were in our living room playing with the guinea pigs when we got home.I didn't tell Tyler they were coming, so he was very surprised and happy! My mom's gift was a birthday card with $20 for him to take on vacation and my aunt gave him a cute Mickey Mouse glass. It's one that McDonald's was giving out in 2000 and I suspect she found it at a garage sale, but it's very cute! It has Mickey dancing with Mickey balloons and fireworks behind him, the castle on another side, Dumbo on another side, and I can't remember what's on the other side. Tyler opened his gift from me, the Mickey luggage, and was SUPER EXCITED! I also bought him the Rotweiler Webkinz he's been wanting for a while. My mom brought a birthday cake with her too.
Tomorrow he gets round 3. The Chuck E. Cheese party. Then the next day we're invited to another party at the same place!![]()
Woody checked in on the Sept 12th thread....![]()
I suppose on the plus side to all that has happened lately is that Sukie and I will be celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary on the cruise in September. It will also be so nice that it will be a mix of people who were there at our celebration and friends who couldn't attend.
Right now, possibly next week, the civil union bill comes up in the Illinois House.
Sukie and I agreed that if it passes, we're getting hitched a second time, here in Chicago.
This time the ceremony will be performed in my synagogue, by my Rabbi (or bunny as Sukie calls him), under a chuppa.
My Big Fat Jewish Wedding!
GOsh, I was so overwhelmed at Disneyland! It has been so long and we didn't do a very good job planning. We had so much fun though and want to plan another trip, which I will do more in advance so we can hopefully arrange a DIS meet. I was thinking it would be fun to go in August...but boy the costs sure add up!
Here are some photos - hope I post them ok - Luke the PirateAidan the pirate![]()

Orowheat is s huge name here and should be easy to find. I'll look.A food alert for my west coast, and possibly Arizona friends.
In the past I've mentioned some really good sandwich rolls called, Arnold Sandwich Thins. They are extremely tasty. Taste like they have substance and are 1 point.
Earlier this week I read that Oroweat will be coming out with Oroweat Sandwich Thins, I guess that Oroweat is the western name of the Arnold products (sort of like Hellman's vs. Best's).
So keep an eye out for them. They are great for sandwiches, burgers, etc.
Well last week I lost 5lbs because I couldn't eat anything. Yesterday I weighed in again and after a week of eating I only gained back 2lbs. So I had a real loss of 3lbs again. I'm doing well, but my online weight tracker was not pleased with my gain. It kept telling me to examine where I might have gone wrong. Duh, I didn't go wrong....I just ate this week.
I have had a total loss of 12lbs in 5 weeks. That averages 2.4lbs a week and that's right on target.![]()
And, speaking of Tyler's birthday, I just have to share something very sweet from his dad. I emailed the following to him yesterday:
Hi Chuck,
7 years ago today, at this time of day, my epidural was starting to wear off and it was time to start pushing Tyler out, only for them to have to pull him out because they couldn't get the c-section room ready quick enough, and then whisk him away for quite a few hours. All day long today I've been thinking of what stage of labor I was in at any given time and sort of reliving the day. It was such an emotional day for a variety of reasons. I know......TMI.....but just wanted to share! I went up to visit Tyler in Mrs. Parker's room on my lunch hour, took him a Pirates of the Caribbean balloon, and told him "at this time 7 years ago, I was sitting in a hospital bed waiting for you to come out!" He offered me a cupcake and he was very excited about his birthday!
Anyway, I didn't mean to bug you, just wanted to share.I guess I can sort of say, "Happy birthday to us" , in way!
Then his very sweet response (almost made me weepy):
Holly, thanks for sharing that. I regret not being there when he was born. I know I didnt make things any easier for you during your pregnancy, and I apologize for that. It took a lot of courage from you to go through everything without any support from me.
I can honestly say that Tyler is the best thing that ever happened to me. I told him this morning that God could not have given me a better son, and that I have always been proud that he is my son.
When Sheilah first got pregnant, part of me wondered if I could ever love another child as much as I do Tyler . Now with 7 months gone by, I know I will love them both equally.
The cupcakes were not the ones he wanted from Kroger, but I tried my best to follow the theme and bought flags separately. Tyler and I put the flags on the cupcakes last night and he did really good keeping his fingers out of the frosting. J I am glad you got to have one.
I really love being Tyler s Dad. Being a parent has been the most rewarding thing in my life. So yes, I agree it is happy birthday to us as well.
Chuck
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND TYLER
Holly, sounds like you and Tyler are both having a great weekend
Kathe
I am back from my 3 meetings this morning. I was there about an hour later than usual. We had WAY many more members than we expected, 38 members in my 8:00 AM meeting.
I also had about a dozen new people register, which meant doing getting started sessions.
I also had a father and his 12 year old son register, plus a mom and her daughter who is in high school. I felt it was like youth day. Very odd doing a getting started session for a 12 year old boy, I've never done one before. Of course the program is different for someone that age.
So now I have worked BOTH Saturday and Sunday this weekend, 5 meetings over the 2 days.
Ii guess I can afford to buy another cocktail in September.
