I thought I'd check in, now that I'm home from work.
I had a pretty interesting lunchtime walk today.
As usual I went out for my normal walk. I decided to take a different route that took me a couple of blocks further west.
Heading back to my office I heard what sounded like a big crowd of people chanting.
There was a fire department ambulance, driving very slowly up the street, no siren, but lights flashing.
Then I saw them, about 50 or 60 firemen rookies, in gym clothing, jogging up the street in formation, to the sing-song chanting, repeating after their drill captain.
I work very near the Chicago fire department training academy, which is built on the site where Mrs. O'Leary's barn had been.
I stood there watching the rookies go by. The 50 or 60 rookies were all men. (There might have been a woman among them, I didn't notice.)
It was quite an afternoon! I returned to my desk, a little distracted.

And now I will translate for Ken and Bubba - imagine walking down the street when suddenly 50 or 60 cheerleaders go jogging by, all wearing scanty gym clothing.
