Bummer, raining here, so it might be a bumpy flight...yuck. I hate to fly anyways and in bad weather is even worse.

I hate people that come to my door to try to sell me stuff!!!!

I've had twice in 2 days men come to our door trying to sell us roof repairs.

I was so freaked out by this guy that I called the non-emergency police today.

This guy was VERY abrasive and wouldn't leave when I said no.

If people aren't requested to come to my door stay the heck away

Next time I think I'll open my front door and have my dog charge at them

On a similar theme, one of my credit card companies called me yesterday at 9PM, to try and sell me additional services.

I went berserk, I am sometimes in bed by 9PM. I really lost it, because I found it so rude and intrusive.

I've been hanging out with the kiddos. They are off school this week. We haven't done much fun. Just playing the Wii.

Tonight Wilson is having 3 friends sleep over for pizza & cake and Wii playing to celebrate his birthday.

And ya know we are going to Disneyland on Tuesday for his actual birthday.

I wonder how the weather is supposed to be.. I'm going to look now.

That is so annoying - as if you have nothing better to do than stand at the door listening to them waffle on. Grrrrrr. Set the dog on them.

I can't believe they would phone so late. All these type of phone calls are intrusive. If it is a real human and not automated I leave the call running and put the phone down and they can talk to their heart's content. We can phone a number and get our number added to a list, then these cold callers aren't supposed to phone you or they could be in trouble. I keep forgetting to do it.

A friend called me the other morning to chat AT 7:50 AM!! to chat ?!?!?!

I answered the phone with "Hello" and when she said who it was I said, with MUCH urgency in my voice, "WHAT'S WRONG?" She said "nothing", she just called to chat and I said "at this hour?"

Then she looked at her clock and apologized big time. She had been up since 6 and had gotten so much done that she thought it was later than it was.

YUCK

People should check the clock and if it is between 9 am and 9 pm, ok, call, but before 9 am or after 9 pm--wait until tomorrow. Calls after hours make people panic

In Indiana we can be on a NO CALL list but if it is a company you do business with, they can call because you are already their client so you have authorized them to call.

I suppose that would be the same here too. I really don't think anyone should have the right to just phone a private number like that.

When Sukie was the editor of a small entertainment magazine here in town, he'd be out at special events and people would be calling at midnight and at 1AM. I think that most people had thought that he just had an extremely rude partner.

I forgot saying that I took kids out to the picture to see Dogs for Hotel and it seem quite good as if only for dog lover...

I didn't want to go but I enjoyed watch it and love all the dogs awwwww....

I never thought that it would come to Prince George. We were really shocked that it did, so I made sure I pulled out all the stops to try and get tickets early. Turns out we didn't really need to, as they oversaturated our market and Saturday afternoon wasn't very well attended.

But it was really nice to see Disney come to our neck of the woods. They did it in typical Disney fashion with theme done right from the moment you walk in the doors. I had a good time.

Glad it was a good time Ken. Great pictures too!

In the second set of pics you posted, the ones from when you were a kid in the 70s, looking at the very last picture, I'd say Kaleigh looks a lot like your sister did in that last picture.

I just get irritated. I don't answer when people call while were having supper, or if we're just doing something fun. And I just put my phone on vibrate or turn it off when it's getting close to bedtime and don't turn it back on until shortly after I get up the next morning.

When I got this in my email, I thought of all of the nostalgic pictures everyone is sharing here. I love them and this fits right in with them.



TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE

1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight. WHY?

Because we were always outside, playing....that's why!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times,we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms.

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.

Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers problem solvers and inventors problem solvers and inventors ever.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.

If YOU are one of them? CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.

While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it ?

Since everyone started posting pictures....I made myself crazy trying to figure out where all my childhood pictures are since mom died. My brother cleaned out the house and we each have a storage shed filled with her stuff. I talked to my brother today and asked him. Then I walked past a big box under my desk at home and voila!!! All of mom's pictures were in that box. WOW I didn't even know they were there. I just didn't remember from a year and a half ago when everything was crazy. So I'll go through them and post some on here in the next couple of days.

John has posession of his pictures and that box is handy so I'll post some of him too.

Time to take a walk down memory lane.

June 6, for a week. And I'm going to tell Tyler when he comes home on Saturday! I'm so excited, I want him to be excited too! He knows we just can't afford a cruise this year, and I know he'll be just as excited about Disney! He remembers a few things from when my dad treated the whole family a week after Tyler turned 3 and talks about wanting to see those things again. His very first roller coaster ever was Goofy's barnstormer ride (if that's even what it's called). He remembers that and walking through Mickey's house. Not much else.

Sounds like it's going to be a very exciting trip for you and Tyler, Holly I bet he'll be jumping up and down all weekend, once you tell him, sure you want to tell him this early

We had a nice birthday dinner for Kaleigh tonight. My little baby is a big 4 yrs old now. She's having a birthday party on Sunday. This is the first year where she's invited kids (every other year has been family only). I'll make her cake for the party, and tonight we had the little cake she picked at the store - carrot cake!

Now I must go to bed since I'm supposed to go into work 2 hours early so I can leave early so Ken & I can get to a dinner event.

Yes, I've had an Oscar party at my house the last several years. It's become quite a tradition with my friends. So much so that even though I'll be out of town this Sunday (I'm actually going to be gone for about a week) the party is still going on here, just without me. When I told my friends that I wouldn't be able to have the party this year, they asked if they could still come over and watch it here! It's fine with me, they're all long-time good friends and I have no qualms about them being here. So I'm going to clean the house tomorrow, get out my decorations and leave the key under the mat! Isn't that funny?

Yes, that is funny, that your friends are having the party at your house without you! Guess you'll still seem close to them that way. Our party will be very low key, I haven't had time to look for decorations! We will however have food and wine I've told everyone I'm wearing a gown (a nightgown If I get too tired, I'm going to bed!)Hope you have a good week away!

I was watching the programme called "Down Under" and it is very good programme but only one problem that it often showing the SNAKES

Also I am thinking go back to Australia in 2011 and want travel around in Perth, go to see Monkey Mia Resort and Pinnacles...Just find out that Pinnacles have lots of snakes around it...and lady said if see snake, have to stand still!!! me no way, RUN RUN RUN..... (i know I will get bite if I run huh)....

If I go to the camping, definetly at New Zealand.......

Hi Deborah! I put up with knowing there were snakes because I didn't really have a choice, they are just about everywhere! But...my rules in picking campsites were no spots where there were POISONOUS snakes...or bears

Chuck and I went camping on our honeymoon.....in 1973! WE had a tent and we were so young! We went to the Rocky Mountain National Park, and Denver and Golden....oh, my what fun we had!

Here's a funny story, though. As you know, we are from Illinois....flatlanders for sure! We camped at Shadow Mountain and then went hiking up, up, up to one of the highest mountains......well, I got so SICK! We went to town and phoned a doctor from a pay phone (no cell phones back then). He said I had ALTITUDE SICKNESS!!!! He recommended a night at a hotel, and lots of fluids....I think he actually laughed. So we stayed at this great motel built up the side of the mountain called the Brass Bed and in the morning they brought us a tray with coffee on it. We thought we were in heaven!

Gosh, I haven't thought of that for a long time.....I'll have to find a photo of us somewhere in a box of pictures........

Oh no.....I just heard on the news that a 15 year old boy and a 13 year old girl in Jr. High in Arkansas were having sex in school and they put it on the internet. How sad is that. I would be scared to raise a child today. Think about their peer pressure?
