I've decided that trying to do yardwork with the kids around is a waste of time.

I'm trying to clean out the garage and take some stuff to the dump and others to the recycle/reuse it place but DD6 is in bed with the stomach flu and DD3 is bored because her big sister can't play with her.

So I get DD3 to help clean up the garage with me. But I have to keep an eye on her and get things that she can do to keep her occupied. All the while it's intermixed with "I'm hungry" or "I'm thirsty" or something else to take me away from working...

Football game is on in a couple of hours. So now I'm not going to get much done at all!!!

Your daughters must be taking tips from Sukie, because I can't seem to get anything done when he's around either.

I'm here! :hyper: Oh my gosh, I'm going through DIS withdrawals and now everybody is gone! :faint: Today was the busiest day I've had at work in longer than I can remember. Not one single second to spare to check here. Unbelievably busy, but it made the day fly by! :thumbsup2 I much prefer that over those boring days I usually have with no work.

My migraine came back this afternoon, but I've managed to keep it to a tolerable level with the Rx stuff. I wish these darned storms would hurry up and arrive and pass through, then I'd be fine again. :headache:

Today was our company picnic. They had buses to take everyone to the park at 11:00 AM for a barbeque and games.

I ended up staying at work, because we had a crisis with a software release that is supposed to move into production on Monday night.

My boss (who was sympathetic to me) said that I had to attend the picnic. That I could eat and then come back.

I said that I wouldn't get back until after 2PM and I'd lose valuable time. I also told her that I refused to work on the weekend and give up time where I had plans, because I had to waste time going to a picnic I could care less about.

The choice was either I be allowed to stay and get work done, or I attend the picnic and we miss our deadline.

She really was on my side. I spoke to her boss the CIO and told him I would not be at the picnic and why. It was thus up to the executives as to whether the picnic was a higher priority than our customers.

So, I stayed at my desk which was fine. I'm not a fan of forced fun and have an extremely difficult time being sociable with people I don't feel sociable about.

(I know it must be a shock to think of me as not being sociable).

I do have a team that reports to me, but they are all young guys and were really looking forward to the picnic, games and softball game. I could have made one or more of them stay, but I couldn't see taking away from them something that they were clearly excited about, and I wasn't.

One of my guys felt really bad and was hovering over me fretting about my ability to test something. He turned 24 this week and I am the same age as his father (well, his father is technically 5 months older than me).

I finally said, "Ed, leave me alone. I was testing software before you were born and before PC's were born."

Actually, I had a nice, productive time by myself.

Well, goodnight. Hope you insomniacs manage a good night's sleep tonight.
I hope so too. I was so tired, I kept falling asleep today while typing. Listening to all the medical jargon during medical records summaries doesn't do much to keep me awake. :rotfl2:

Watching "The Bucket List", so I guess I'll go lie down and watch some more and check later to see if anybody posts more here. :thumbsup2

I get it now. Sorry.

What I should have said was that she is so darned cute that she was easy for you to remember and for me to spot her!:cutie:

I love, love, love that movie. We saw it on the cruise! When they go to Eze, that is where we went last year on the Med cruise.

Weird, it's 4:03 and my posts are timed at 2:47 and ending up in the middle of old posts.

I think our butterflies are trying to make more butterflies! :rotfl2: Tomorrow is the day we'll set them free. Tyler will get to see them when he comes home tomorrow and I'll let him be the one to set them free. :thumbsup2 They're so pretty and orange! :goodvibes

That's a great story! I would have done the same thing! I'd much rather get done with something important than eat BBQ!

Have a nice week.

We are leaving tomorrow morning to fly to Moline and attend Chuck's nephew's wedding....I am really looking forward to it! It will be outdoors, in his sister's new hosta garden which has lots of lovely trees and shade, and she's been working so hard to make it beautiful. The wedding will be in the evening and they are getting bales of hay to sit on.......It's going to be very fancy! They are even getting fabric to cover the bales of hay! Now that's FIRST CLASS at an outdoor wedding.....also there will be a big tent with a DJ and music and ......Chuck's favorite.....a keg of beer! OH BOY:banana:

I hope the weather cooperates.....we will go to Angelo's Pizza on Sunday and then come home on Monday....a real whirwind trip!

Today I was supposed to work from 7:30am to 12 noon, but at 5am, my mom called from her house in Ellenton, FL. She had called the parametics because she thought she was having a heart attack......her blood pressure was SO HIGH yesterday at the DR.'s office, and I think she just fussed and fumed about it all night until she got herself all worked up.

I called off of work, packed a weekend bag, and tore off to see her. I didn't know how long I would have to stay, or anything......Luckily, they pumped her full of something to lower her blood pressure, and she was asleep and ready to go home by the time I got there.

She's ok, but she's finally going to move over here to live closer to me so I don't have to drive so far in an emergency.

:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

oh oh oh! I am going to download my Black Swallowtail butterflies mating and the eggs they laid and the caterpillars....I don't have any chrysalises yet!

I'm getting confused. I keep scrolling backwards to see what popped up in between the old posts. Freaky stuff going on!

I think I'll have to go back to the beginning of the thread to make sure I haven't missed anything!

Wow it sure is weird reading the quotes and then the original post!!!

I would blame it on the alcohol but I can't because I haven't had any yet. Just sat down to watch the football game. Haven't even cracked the beer open yet. I'm so glad football season has started!! :thumbsup2 :cool1: :thumbsup2

What happened to baseball? Football doesn't start here until September.

Your mind is playing tricks on you, even before the beer :thumbsup2
