I shop at
Walmart because I live in the sticks and that is all we have (other than a dirty, nasty Aldi). Target is an hour away, along with the mall and any restaurants you've heard of.
My average kids play outside unsupervised, they don't always behave the way they are supposed to, and they used to get spanked (still would, if they needed it, even though the oldest is way taller than me).
Those average kids will not be given new cars or a fully funded college education because we just can't afford it. They will be expected to work some while they are in school.
I work a minimum wage job by choice (school secretary) because the stress at my better paying hospital job was making my life miserable.
I was a SAHM when my oldest was little and hated it.
We don't go to Disney anymore because it is too expensive for what we get out of it.
Our house is old and out of date but we have no plans to move. It is also messy (not dirty), and I don't care.
I refuse to be a doormat to family and let them treat me badly just because we are related or just to keep the peace. I know they will be gone one day, but I can live with the choices I have made.
We have a couple of guns, our kids know where they are, where the ammo is (stored separately), and they know how to use them. (They do NOT have access to the keys for the gun locks, tho).
Probably a lot more, but that's all I can think of right now.
