Wayfair....yay or nay?

I highly doubt it. In the history of the CB there have been exactly two other threads on Wayfair. Such a coincidence the third would be posted at the exact same time they announce a strike the next day. This thread has now become nothing more than a place to quasi-legitimately post political opinions. I'm sure there'll be mention of the walkout at tonight's debate, esp by Senator Warren of MA.

First of all, the OP never mentioned it nor did anyone else until post 20., So your accusations regarding many on the thread are unsubstantiated. Secondly, IMO its ok to discuss the issue without being totally political about it.

I think the quality varies. I purchased a rug that was wonderful and some bedroom furniture that is decent but not great. Be sure to read the reviews for any item you are considering. It is so nice how people take the time to write informative reviews about the merchandise on their site.

The reviews are great. I also love how people post photos of how it really looks versus what the picture looks like on Wayfair. The reviews have been really helpful (far more than some of Amazon's reviews ever are).

I’ve only looked at their site a few times but everything seemed WAY overpriced.
That was my impression too. There looked to me to be a few good things at good prices. But just like most anywhere, you have to be picky and choosy to get a genuinely good deal. That said I've never actually bought anything and at this point have no plans to.

If it walks like a duck...

It could also be that they heard the name in the news and then wondered about them as a company. I hadn't been paying attention to the news, so I didn't know about this until someone brought it up and I then Googled. I'm glad to read Wayfair is equivalent to Overstock. A site I have shopped at many times with good results. :thumbsup2

I don’t get the whole “making a profit off the misery of others” bit. Would it make people feel better if those beds hadn’t been ordered?

I thought sleeping on beds would be desirable.

Yes, when I Googled and found out what is going on, I thought this is a, "Darned if they do, darned if they don't," dilemma. Since the situation doesn't look like it's going away any time soon, I'd prefer there are beds. So some company needs to provide them then.

Perhaps what Wayfair can do is to take some/all of the profits and buy some soap & toothpaste to include along with the shipment of beds. :thumbsup2

We ordered a large area rug a couple of years ago. The rug had issues being delivered (can't remember if it was lost or didn't arrive by the promised date). They knocked 30% off due to the issue and tracked down the rug. I don't know if I would order from them again- customer service was very good, the rug was lacking in quality.

We've ordered a few things over the years. We got DH a desk that was sub-par quality for what we paid for it. We also got an end table that was cheap but good quality. Last week I ordered sheets and a bicycle planter. I did read the reviews of the sheets, but they were a mixed bag of either great product or don't waste your money. I bought them anyway and I should have listened to the don't waste your money. They shrank and are now misshaped. The planter was not even close to what the description said, but it's cute. I won't order from them again, however.

Depending on what you’re ordering, you might be better off going somewhere like Big Lots. It looks like they are redoing their stores and have a lot of nice furniture (not heirloom, but nice) and decorating pieces available at their stores that have been redone (ongoing rebranding).

I have a desk chair from Wayfair because they had the best price. It’s a very nice chair and it was under $150. The reviews are so helpful and make it pretty obvious some of the items are not worth buying.

Walmart has been another store that has similar inventory to Wayfair. Definitely, always shop around if you see something you like at a big retailer like that, you might easily find the same thing cheaper.
