Way too hot on the ship

I'm wondering if it's an Alaska thing. We were on deck 2 (oceanview) in August 2016 and the room was overly hot to us. (We're from Massachusetts.) It looked like they had space heaters in the hallways.

Most of the large gathering areas (theaters and MDRs) are cold to begin with because they expect us to heat them up. To keep them cool I suggest we breathe slowly, don't get excited when Crush calls you "dude," remain seated instead of dancing around with Tiana, refuse to hug your mother during an exciting Marvel movie scene, fight the urge to sing along with Elsa to let it go and sit still rather than getting up to welcome Mickey when he comes to your table. Easily done...just take your next cruise on a different cruise line.

actually we were on the cruise before you, but I don't imaging that much would improve in that time. How was the mix of adults and kids on your trip? our server was dreading it because he said they would have 1800 children on that sailing...

Ah ok. We had a pretty even mix of adults and kids. There were a lot more elderly than I'd seen on Caribbean itineraries, but no shortage of kids running around...and crawling around even during 2nd seating for dinner.

we were on 2, when I mentioned it in my FB group, many people agreed that deck 2 was too hot

Yeah, we've never stayed on 2. For our upcoming anniversary cruise we are trying to go very economical and ended up with a sideways inside room on Deck 6, we debated deck 2 but in the end I love deck 6 too much.

We were on the Magic and Wonder in an inside room on deck 2 in connecting rooms. Each cruise the rooms were very warm. They did everything they could on both cruises but said it was a problem with the A/C on those ships. I will never stay on deck 2 again. We loved the location, and my kids loved the inside room over a balcony, but it was just miserable in the room.

It's sometimes taken several visits from maintenance, but my Disney cruise cabins have always ended up a nice, cool 68 degrees which is great! Yes, I travel with a thermometer. :) This includes several times on deck 2 on Wonder (ocean-view). Verandah cabins can be more tricky because all it takes is one person along the group of cabins connected to the same system to sleep with their verandah door open and it throws them all out of wack and makes them hot! :(

My wife and I are from the north, we recently got back from our first cruise. it was to Alaska. It was wonderful and we loved our room but there didn't seem to be anything I could do to prevent waking up in a pool of sweat. We asked to have something done and they changed the air filter, but that didn't help then we had a fan brought in, and it helped a little, but our room was still way too hot. If anything, it was chilly at times.

On Glacier day I went out in a tee shirt and shorts and was finally cooled down.

It's the only reason I wish I had a balcony, because we did not miss it otherwise. Has anyone else experienced this. am I doomed for my future cruises to be too hot?
We just disembarked from our Disney Wonder Alaska cruise today, and we were never hot onboard. Our room was chilly when we embarked. Many of the interior areas of the ship were occassionally cold, particularly near exterior doors.

It sounds like your cabin had an AC problem that you should have pressed to get quickly fixed, moved away from, or be compensated for. If it happens again, keep complaining to Guest Services until they really take care of the problem. That's their job.

I'm assuming you have only had this problem on the cruise, & don't typically feel hot when others don't. If the latter is the case, you might need to have your thyroid checked.

Once, on one of our cruises on the Dream, we had to move rooms because the A/C did not work in our stateroom.

We just left the June 4th to 11th Alaskan cruise (Disney Wonder) and our room was warm with the AC turned down. We walked around in shorts to cool down, but AP was super cold during dinner. BTW, we were in SR 6545 which I just submitted a report.

Decided to purchase a small but powerful fan from Amazon that has a battery OR you can power it with a USB plug and it LOOKS like there is one near the bed? I am on the Magic in September, 11 day, ocean view, so I thought I would be proactive. I can always use it for white noise if I luck out and have a cool room. I LIKE sleeping in cold rooms! First time without a balcony. AND I have no clue what the temperature will be on the Atlantic Ocean in the Fall.

I would like to get a fan since I find it very difficult to sleep with "still" air (unless it is very cold.) Could you share a link to the one you purchased?

So our first cruise was in November - perfect weather. Then we did one in June - big mistake. It seems they ration the AC (they admitted this years ago on that boat) and my brother, who had severe asthma at the time, came back from one of the islands and could not get cool in our room. It caused him to have an asthma attack. His defense mechanism agains this is to get sick. He’s not actually sick, it’s just something his body does. Well, someone on board witnessed it and forced him to go to medical and they quarantined him for 24 hours. I get their concern, but this caused him to miss a family excursion that he really wanted to do.
We’ve learned our lesson and only Cruise in the fall/winter now. Plus side to his being stuck in the room was free room service (cans of soda) and movies to watch all day long delivered to our room.
