Way Early I know but anyone going on Eastern May 1-8 2004?

Did I miss something??? What is Monkeyboy's "Spongebob" drink??? Heidi...if it is a good one please pass the recipe along. I'm sure it is probably buried in this thread someplace, but in order to save time and sanity, would you mind repeating it? Thanks!!!!!

Oh yeah, and if it has the G word in it (you know Gin) then nevermind...I won't be needing the recipe afterall!!!!!!

I have made a twist one of the drinkd we had on the Pirate ship, the banana bender, we named it the "Sponge Bob" because it has pineapple juice. mmm tasty... Recipe: 4 parts pineapple juice, 1 part orange juice 2 parts Coconut Rum and 1 part Dark Rum...

No gin looks all clear for you Julie!!!

Hydster -- I like the Mex Riviera on RCCL or Carnival idea... Jen has orderd the RCCL info and I think Crnival as well.

AAAHHH Julie Julie Julie--It's your LUCKY DAY!!!

NO GIN in this one! It's all rum baby it's all rum!!!

It is a "boat drink" that's for sure and it is so yummy!!!

Joe--We're game for anything as long as it does NOT include OUR kids this time!:teeth: You feel free to bring yours but ours will be staying home! LOL

We have your "information" so we'll have to get together and figure this out. If anyone else is interested in doing a NON disney cruise with us to the Mex Riviera (or hell we'd go just about anywhere for a cruise) let us know! The more the merrier!!! And I promise the next trip (since my kids will be home with grandma) I will be much more lively even if I get sick!!!!!

I got prices on the Eastern RCCL Mariner for next spring, they were not at inexpensive as I thought. About 3500 for the whole family in a balcony cabin. Once you go balcony, you can never go back. We checked for Easter week and it was like $5500.00. Yikes. My friend Patty(some of you met) is the cruise agent and she mentioned that the travel trend is changing again and so the rates are going to start to climb.

That price is one of the biggest reasons our kids will stay HOME until they get older. Disneyland and 6 flags will be their vacation and they love it there and we love the cost. We can do a 7 day Mex Riviera cruise for just Ryan and I for 2000.00 in a balcony cabin including port charges and tax. RCCL is always a little higher in price. I would NEVER EVER consider doing a Norwegian but that's because we had an awful experience with them. I think we will probably stick to Carnival just because it fits us. It is a fun ship and while the stigma was that they were all drunk all the time (I don't help add to the stigma do I?) it has become much better all around.

I looked into RCCL for next year and while it is cheaper, it's still not exactly what I'd call a bargain. I dunno... maybe I'll just do some Club Med thing next year. Unless, of course, I hit the lottery and then I'll do a suite tour of cruise ships ;)

Wow! $3500 and i am guessing there is no air fare include on that price correct??

I knew there was a reason I don't do this all the time!

Hmmm, may have to stick to camping.

Philly Jen--I just looked at the online TA I always use (except for DCL cruises) and it shows going on Royal Caribbean with 2 adults and 2 kids on the Splendour of the Seas sailing in a balcony cabin including port charge and tax is $4470.00 which is almost $1000.00 less than you got for the week of Easter. This one would leave on Saturday March 26 and I think Easter in 2005 is the 27th? It leaves from Tampa and goes to George Town, Costa Maya, Belize and Cozumel.

I think some of the reason that RCCL is so much more pricey when you want a balcony cabin is that they don't seem to have as many rooms that have balconies (if I remember right anyway). Their newer ships might have more rooms with balconies but I Know some of their older ships don't.

Heidi

Joe -- You could probably get a campground manager to bring you a bucket of Miller Lites for cheaper than DCL. Just sway back and forth a bit (shouldn't be a problem after a few beers) and get dressed up for cooking hot dogs on the hibachi. I'm sure some local kids will be happy to provide the "kid ambience" at no charge. Tell the kids that the bushes near the camper are shaped like Goofy, Mickey, Cinderella, etc. They're young, maybe they'll buy it!

Just like a Disney Cruise! Have enough drinks and it'll all make sense to you. Trust me.

Yeah and if you go pee next to a huge waterfall it will sound just like the toilet flush from your cabin!

PhillyJen, Vegas would rock, I think Headgear at Red Square would be a perfect fit.

Tom,
As far as Vegas goes, I gladly introduced myself to Red Square last year. I think I had 3 or 4 martini's..I can't remember though. But what I do remember is , you cannot swim in the fountains at the Bellagio ...(a man disguised as a police officer explained this)

HeadGear Pat

This is for you Tom....

The Metzler's(that's the Philly Jen and Headgear Pat clan)
ARE cruising next year. We just can't afford Disney at $5500 plus the $3000 in clothes we bought just to get there. Plus the $1200.00 "tip" we gave the ship!!!! Julie, your husband mentioned that you actually spent more than that. ARghhhhh.. He didn't factor in my L&T and Talbots charge purchases! Can't wait to get the bill. I hate the Western Itinerary, done it twice! I would do the Eastern every time bc the beaches are so beautiful and calm(no little jellyfish in your bathingsuit when you are done.) Anyway, I am going to keep on Patty about the rates. She thinks they will go down again for RCCL before they go up. As for Carnival, I hate to say this(ok no I don't), the cruise line is too "I am a recent graduate and I need something to do with my $$ cruise" for me. Once you've done Celebrity, you can never go back. I am a food and wine snob(not embarassed) and need something more......Did I just lose all my friends?..... I usually don't bc they knew I was like this the second they met me.... Patty and Mike actually categorize things as "a Jenn and Pat" type home, or a "Jenn and Pat" type restaurant...... NOt embarassed at all, Just have good taste!:D

Anyway, We decided based on the price that we would go during the "cheapest" week we could get and just take Hannah out of school again. I truly believe that a family vacation out of Philadelphia is better than a week in 1st grade! So at that point, we have Some time in early April at $3000.00 for a verandah cabin. And if all I have to do is maintain my weight, I can afford that with just the savings on clothes alone!

Anyone in? Patty will get us all great deals....

Jeff -- I do have 2 walkie talkies, so I guess I could give one to the camp manager so I can call for beers. I figure the bears are kinda like characters. It's just a little tougher to get them to sign autographs.

Heidi -- yeah, or I could just hook myself up to a shop vac. :cool1:

Yikes Philly Jen hope my crab cakes are up to the challenge!!

We would love to cruise with you all again in April, but JenLynn is planning a return to teaching this fall, and while it is easy to pull the kids out of school, it's not quite so easy to do with the teacher.

Hmmm... come to think about it, teaching will probabaly interfere with Vegas as well. I'm thinking maybe we should try to convince JenLynn to wait one more year before she returns to teaching. pirate:

Oh and Headgear Pat, Thanks that pic is now my wall paper!!!

Bow Joe--HEHE---the shop vac idea puts quite a picture in my mind....:earseek: and it had nothing to do with the ship's toilet system!!

Anywho----We probably won't be in Vegas over Labor day because I want to see "my man" and his last show is on the 24th of August so we will probably go the weekend of the 12th, 13th, 14th of August..SO if you are interested and school isnt in..feel free!

Also we were planning on doing the Mex Riviera cruise when the kids are done with school since it's easier on us to get a babysitter so if you are interested in that feel free as well!

Ok..off to have some Spongebob's, Pizza and Garlic bread

Later

:bounce: Here's some Disney Love comin' at ya'll! :Pinkbounc

(Did you guys pick up on my "southern" accent on the cruise or does it just come through in my posts? :teeth:

Glad to hear that everyone's working on the "next big vacation." We're very excited about our Back-to-Backs. Even more so than the Panama Canal cruise, I think. Perhaps that's because the Aug./Sep. cruises are so much closer.

Bow Tie Joe--

Please let us know how those Bushwhackers turn out. They were quite the drink at Paradise Point. And, I must say, all this talk about the famous Lime Martinis has me wishing I would have had the chance to try one. Ah, perhaps next time we meet Headgear Pat!

Tom--

I understand that our posts on the Aug. 28 thread may hurt a little. But, as a king once told a little lion cub, "Our time ... rises and falls like the sun." It's the circle of life. :teeth: (Ok, that wasn't supposed to come out sounding so depressing. This PDCD really sucks! )

Jeff--

How did the pic of Alyssa and Mulan come out? I hope my photography skills were suitable and it turned out ok. I need to scan the one of Travis and I with her. It turned out very good!

And to all--

Don't worry, we could never forget our Disney Magic May 1st Cruise companions! Or, as Susan would say, "I like orange. I really like orange."

The pic of us with Mulan turned out great. Thanks again. Not many pics with both Alyssa and me in them.

Once I get some time (maybe Sunday) I'll post some of the pics.

I have been called out
Monkeyboy are you still alive?

I'm RIGHT HERE TOMMY BOY!!!!!!! Your my boy, TOMMY!!!!

Well I'm here and I'm po'd because I have been working my A$$ off this week, and I have accomplished NOTHING!!!!

I need the recipe for this "Lime Martini" in return I have developed the Guavaberry Martini-- 1 part absolute (or a Vodka of your choice) one part Guavaberry Liquer, shake and serve with Ice.

PAT????? Need the lime Martini recipe, if you can puul off the head gear and release the power... Nice Pick of Tommy... It looks just like him.

Party on fellow pirates and wenches!!!! pirate: pirate: pirate:

At least you guys have had enough energy to post. I got the crud in the head otherwise known as an upper respiratory infection with a wicked cough that the Dr today said has turned into bronchitis so I've felt miserable the last three days and haven't even felt like READING the thread much less posting. Anyway the meds the DR gave me seem to be working and I'm feeling better.

Heidi, I agree that it's better to be sick at home but I was also trying to work. It's kind of interesting to do conference calls when you can't speak above a whisper! Took cough medicine tonight expecting the codine to put me to sleep and it seems to be keeping me awake. I guess I'll crash in a minute.

Maybe tomorrow I'll get a chance to read everyone's trip reports and get together one of my own. It will have to be from memory since I'm not as organized as Heidi and didn't take notes. Right now my brain is fried so will work on the report when it becomes functional again.

I'm wondering if illness is a sign of Post Cruise depression.

Sounds like we missed out by not hitting the clubs after our late seating at dinner. I did go to the Hot Tub with Robyn several nights probably while you guys were in the clubs. Especially on Saturday night after our short sleep night on Friday it was really relaxing and helped get the old muscles ready for bed.

I think I'm beat for tonight and am going to try to get to bed. Check you guys later.
