We did a review of The Wave, and I will tell you up front that this was NOT our best experience there. It was lunch from last July, and while the service was still pretty good, the meal was a below the standards we have come to expect from there. Here is a copy of the review (link to the full report in my sig):
After confirming the delivery (they will leave your stuff with bell services, and bell services are more than willing to refrigerate the perishables), we headed out to the Contemporary for a meal I was really excited about: The Wave. This is the newest restaurant in the Disney family, and their philosophy of "green" eating - eco-friendly, local products, many organic items, sustainable fish, etc - ties in nicely with something DW & I believe in. That said, if they didn't put out a good product, they'd close quickly. We thought it would be the best of both worlds for us - great Disney meal with clean products. I know many DISers were down on this place, even when they had never been there. They hated the idea, and I was the first to defend the place. I wanted it to be a really good meal, and after eating this lunch I have to say ---- I need to try it again. DW started with a crab cake that wasn't really memorable - not the best crab, uninspired presentation. It has an over-fishy flavor, which is weird in a crabcake. It was supposed to come on papaya slaw, but I am certain it was jicama. I went for the "Citrus Salad" - grapefruit and avocado. Interesting concept, but it just wasn't wonderful. Boma does this dish much, much better. I ordered a burger for lunch, and the burger itself was pretty good. I had it on a multi-grain roll, and once again - I must defend multi-grain. It came with potato wedges, and I can confirm, they were potato wedges. Nothing else to report there. My beverage was the flight of beer- always a great choice. The beers are an organic brew, and I liked all of the varieties they offered. DW ordered a mixed green salad with chicken, and 9,999 times out of 10,000 one would expect to get grilled chicken breast on a chicken salad. I recall a certain podcast raving about this salad - calling it one of the two best salads in all of WDW. Well, this salad was served with thigh meat - sauteed thigh meat with a presentation that resembled scraps cut off of the bone. When our server finally came back (probably 20 minutes after we got our food), she asked DW if everything was okay. We asked if the salad was served with the wrong protein (it sort of looked like overcooked pork) and she said "no, this comes with thigh meat". It just wasn't edible to DW, and there was no real offer of removing it from the bill. Overall, I was a bit disappointed in this lunch. Nothing tasted as fresh as I had hoped, and maybe I just built it up too much in my head. The burger was good, but it wasn't all that much better than any other burger on property. DW's salad was pretty bad - she would DEFINITELY not order it again. We eventually decided to cancel our dinner ADR, but we kept our breakfast one. Boy are we glad we did!! More on that later.
