Does anyone know where I can get a waterproof room key lanyard? I had one a few years ago that I got from a $ store (can't remember which one!) and it has finally broken. I know I can get one once I get the WDW, but I wanted to find a better deal than what I would pay at the parks! Thanks.

Disney is moving to Magic+ wristbands. You will no longer get a credit card-shaped key for your room and tickets. You will be able to enter the parks and your room, make purchases and obtain FP+ entries all by waving your wristband in front of a scanner. You may not want to bother purchasing a lanyard right now unless your trip is very soon.

Check Disneystore.com. If you find a %-off code or free shipping, you can get a very nice Disney Cruise Line lanyard wallet for about $8-$9 each before tax. You can put more than just a room key in it and it's pretty durable.

You might also want to check any local waterpark or YMCA to see if they sell the resealable pouches that you can hang from your lanyard.

Lucky you, to be going on a Disney Cruise! I'm a little surprised that they haven't gone to the RFID bracelets, too. I remember so many people losing their cards onboard our last cruise. Bracelets are much harder to misplace.

I have seen them at REI stores...I think that's where my DH got his that he uses for work. Not sure on the price though.

It's just occured to me that this new wristband nonsense could end up killing pin trading in the long run. If you have no need to carry your KTTW card, you might not buy a lanyard, or at least not a lanyard pouch. A lanyard without a pouch looks funny (and feels funny to wear), so maybe you'll stop wearing it. If you don't have a lanyard, over time you might stop buying pins. If you stop buying pins, you might stop trading.

If enough people do that process over time, pin trading and pin sales will drop....


Of course, they are probably already in talks with Jibbitz to make things for the wristbands. Just to make us all feel a bit more like preschoolers on a daycare field trip.

I'm not too crazy about wearing a wristband all day in the heat. Those things start to rub and bug me after a couple of hours - image how they'll feel after a week?!
