Any suggestions to keep dry and warm in January?

I can imagine getting quite wet after riding Splash Mountain....maybe even brrrr...cold!

Has anyone done it in winter? or got any tips?

Would love to hear.

oops!

What rides do you get wet in?

Going in winter (Jan) - how wet and cold will we get?

If you really want to do a water ride in the winter months, go during the warmest time of the day (when you can often walk around without a sweater) and try wearing a poncho. (The disposable ones are good so you don't have to carry a "real' poncho around all day.) Just make sure you're really covered before you sit down. A poncho that isn't underneath you on the seat is no poncho at all! And don't sit in the front seat on Splash Mountain. Kali can also be "iffy" no matter how prepared you are. We usually go on the water rides in the winter, but it depends on how adverse we are to getting wet on the particular day in question.::MinnieMo

I understand that "Kali" has different settings that will control how wet guests get. It is adjusted appropriately for different seasons.

But still use common sense. 70 degrees (preferrably with sun) is normally my lower threshold for even considering the water rides. Last thing you need is to be shivering after you get off.

Poncos are your best bet, but I for one prefer to stay off water rides in the winter. If i get wet during a cold snap, then I will go absolutly crazy walking around. But maybe youre brave, or used to the cold. :teeth: If you dont go on water rides, wear a thick jacket over a shirt. If it gets warm you can take the jaket off and tie it around your waist. Take it from someone who has been in Disney at 3:00 in the morning in the middle of February, Florida can get COLD! You WILL need a jacket. God bless.

Thanks for the advice.

Coming from Australia, I'm unsure how cold it may get.

Hi,

I'm from Wollongong so a close neighbour :-). We've been to WDW at the end of Jan/Feb and had some hot days and some cold days. But nothing colder than a normal cold winters day here. We had a day at the water park which was beautiful and warm. You will need to be prepared for a mixed bag of weather. If you are going for a good amount of time just save the wet rides for a hot day.

Thanks everyone for the info. Libby, nice to hear from another aussie.

Has anyone seen rain gear - light weight jackets and pants?

We bought light weight water proof jackets from Paddy Palin a few years back when we went to Scotland. We also take them to WDW since they scrunch up nice and small. They are reasonably long and cover the backside. We've also bought ponchos at the parks when it's rained unexpectedly.
