We often get cups of ice water from the CS locations in the parks.

I said about this to my Mum and she's worried about foreign 'tap water' as she tends to only get bottled whilst abroad.

Here's my question though....

When she gets a diet coke in the parks or a restaurant etc, surely that's the exact same water?

I understand not drinking it from the tap in your hotel, but the CS locations it can't be any different from getting a soda?

Or is my logic all wrong?

Yep, 2Tiggies has it right. The ice in your drinks (whatever they may be) will be made from the tap water.

Florida water is perfectly safe to drink. I've never had any problems, and we use the water fountains in the parks too.

It tastes a little different from home, yes, but it's a completely different part of the world! Even tea tastes a bit odd, but IMO it's all part of experiencing different places. I drink coffee instead :lmao:

If it's not to your liking, then just buy bottled water, although that can work out a bit pricey. Each to their own, it's not something which bothers me, but I know people who wouldn't touch it.

There are some fountains and Counter service restaurants where the drinks taste a lot better than others. :thumbsup2
I remember we tried to sure we ate at those restaurants and if we went to others just got the bottled drinks.
Just wish I could remember which ones though.....:rotfl:

we also used to brush teeth with bottled water as that was the one thing I couldnt do with the 'Florida' water.

Last year we drank loads of tap water, but only when we had run out of bottled water, and it was fine. The best way i can describe thier tap water is it tasted a bit stale, it most certainly wont make you ill.

Yes I always think you can taste it in the fountain drinks too, but part of me likes it in a weird way! :rotfl:

We are big crystal light fans.

And it certainly doesn't cover the "swampy" (as Jack calls it) taste.

But again we found as long as it's cold it's fine.

I am doing our garden grocer list and asked Jack what flavour he wants and he said "swampy lemonade" in his frontierland voice.

So I think it's safe to say we find the taste part of the trip too!

I recon Mum will be fine once she has some crystal light in it. :)

Torsie, this may be a hassle, but some people take an empty Brita filter jug and a cartride with. They pack soft items into it in the luggage and they filter water in their room. I can't be bothered and I'm happy to get bottled water. I don't mind the water in my coffee/sodas. I find water in another country always tastes different anyway so I tend to agree with you, although I don't like it, 'strange' water is par for the course when travelling. At least in the US it's drinkable. :)

When I asked a question about the safety of hotel room tap water I got replies from Americans that all tap water is drinkable unless specifically labelled as not being so.

I've had 4 holidays in WDW where we've all drunk loads of tap water and fountain water and none of the family has been ill.

I'm vary wary of using fountains directly, though, and prefer to let them run for a while before filling my bottle.

The water doesn't taste too good, but it was better when cold (find a fountain in the shade) and when sipped rather than swigged!

I had a Brita sports bottle with filters which was great but sadly they no longer sell the filter replacements in the UK or USA.
