Watching Wishes from the Poly beach?

How is watching Wishes from the beach at the Poly resort? We are planning on having a late dinner at O'Hanas at 7pm and was going to walk out to the beach to watch it and the electric water pageant. Is it worth watching from here?

Yeah, it's a lot of fun, a good view, and the electric pageant is right in front of you. I'm sure the people who stay at the Poly don't appreciate the fact that so many Poly non-guests do this, but they do. The castle is pretty far away, but you can see at least some of the castle and all of the fireworks.

Yes, we did that on our last trip-ate at O'hana's then watched the fireworks from the beach. It was very nice to lay in the hammocks and watch the parade and fireworks and it wasn't crowded at all.

We did this last week when we were there. It was so relaxing to watch Wishes from the beach. However, they don't pipe in the music, or at least not where we were. So, if the music is essential to you, then I wouldn't chance it.

We've done this twice. Once in July 2005. The music was piped in and it was wonderful.

The second time a couple weeks ago and no music. It still was quite beautiful. we were planning on seeing Wishes again anyways so the fact that we couldn't hear the music did not matter that much to us. Sitting on the beach hearing the small waves....was absolutely wonderful.

It's a great way to start a vacation.

We have watched the fireworks and electric water parade from the Poly beach and it was nice. We took the boat over from MK and sat out on a swing and watched. Caitann24 is right about there not being music and the castle being so far away. But it is nice just the same. We did this on our first night, so it was something fun but "cheap" to do.

We have also watced the fireworks from O'hana's and it was fantastic! They dim the lights and have the music going. It is just beautiful. Since you are going to O'hana's anyway, I would suggest that you delay your ADR to a time closer to firework time. Good food, fun and fireworks!! Can't beat it!

We stayed at the Poly in Dec. 2004 and watched the fireworks from the beach. It was a beautiful view, but not a substitute for seeing it in the park with the music and the castle, etc.

I bet it is not that many people who are not staying there. Some people probably hang over from dinner at Ohana. But other than that, the Poly is kind of a hike and the view is kind of distant to attract a lot of people not staying there. Just a guess.

Well, when we went in August, it was quite crowded on the beach. Unless Ohana and the Luau had emptied their seats of patrons at the moment right before the fireworks, people had stopped off from the monorail or taken the boat to see the fireworks from the Poly-- that's what we did, too. I highly recommend this idea for anyone looking to make a quick escape after the fireworks or to get a good look at the electrical light parade. Plus, you can have a Pina colada or beer on the beach and grab a quick snack. There was music in August, though. I wonder if they have stopped piping it in.

Wishes from the Poly is nice, but I'd recommend watching it from the inside of the park if it's your first time seeing it. The EWP is really nice, though, and definitely worth seeing.

That's a good idea, be sure to get a spot on main street, other spots don't give you the right angle to see the castle in the middle of the fireworks. I felt bad for people last week, we found people sitting right out in front of the castle, I bet they waited out there a while, and when wishes started you cannot see the fireworks from right in front of the castle.

Definitely see the show from the park. If you happen to be at the Polynesian for dinner at the time the fireworks go off it's worth a trip to the beach. I would not go out of my way just to go there to watch, as stated the music seems to come and go. Sometimes it's on sometimes it's not.

I would also be respectful of those paying big bucks to stay there and not take the few hammocks or chairs available. If not crowded then that would be different.

Actually, we enjoyed the view of Wishes from the bridge to Tomorrowland. We went during MVMCP, so we scoped out a good vantage pt., which DBF secured while I ran the short distance to the Pavilion for our hot cocoa and cookies.
We plan to do the same on this upcoming trip, plus we will be viewing Wishes from 'Ohana later in our trip.

Yes! It is most definetely a cool experience! My family layed in the hammocks and watched it. It still is one of my favorite Disney moments.

We loved watching Wishes from the Polynesian beach. The main area was not crowded during Feb 12-18 and there were plenty of chairs. I read the info on the Electric Light show and it indicates it is after the fireworks but we saw it arrive and light up BEFORE and during the fireworks. It was really pretty and all done by the time Wishes was over. We could hear some music but not very loud so I don't think it is piped in anymore.

There is a beach area right after the Figi building (go past marina) and towards the Luau that would be a nice place to watch Wishes too. It looked like it would be a little more private but don't forget the Luau people might be behind you.

We were always too tired to stay in the park late so it was nice to be staying at the Polynesian and see the castle and Wishes from there. One night we saw it do what is called the "kiss good-night" - the lights changed rapidly and then lit up bright white. We actually thought the lights were going to turn off but it faded back to that mystic blue. Very pretty. I think it was around 9:30 PM when that happened. (The park closed at 9 that night)

We never managed to be in Ohana's or any restaurant that faced the Castle during Wishes but I heard it is nice. I like to eat too early for that!!
