Watching the fireworks

Hi ,

So then my fellow wolverhampton DIS'er, :thumbsup2

Where is the TTC, never viewed from there before might give it try for wishes? You say it well worth a try ? :)

Hi Clivey

You will only get here if you travel to M.K. by car. If you use Disney transport, catch the monorail for a couple of stops or jump on the ferry from M.K.

Here is a pic taken from there, last August.....Well worth a look :thumbsup2

everyone's given a lot of great tips so the only thing i have to add is regarding avoiding entering MK the hour right before the evening parade and the fireworks....

when i was there last year in June (admittedly a very crowded time of year in the parks), i couldn't believe the number of people entering the parks in the evening...

it freaked me out completely (and i'm pretty used to the crowds there)...

when i tried bringing my mom and sister in, i seriously thought we were going to be squished to death.....that's how many people were entering the MK in the evening....

so my advice would be, if you're planning on being at the MK in the evening, be sure to enter it before 6 pm....maybe even before 5 pm.....

and i'll try to follow my own advice this august ;)

In our experience, the handicapped viewing areas for parades fill up quite quickly and are very packed with guests. They usually have guests with wheelchairs and power mobility scooters (ECVs) parked in a tight line across the front of the viewing area. The rest of their party stands behind them. Some of the areas are busy enough to have 2 rows of wheelchairs/ECVs across the front of the viewing area.

Someone who is concerned about feeling trapped might do OK staying toward the back of the viewing area. In some cases, that will not be full of people.

Thanks for that Sue. I want to avoid the crowded areas, so the viewing areas for disabled visitors would be out of the question! I think I will ask the clinic she attends to write a letter and take that with us to Guest Relations when we go - I know it isn't really necessary, but I will find it helpful. The 'quieter waiting areas' would be ideal for her.

As noted above, it may be worth watching from one of the MK resorts for the first time (beach at the Polynesian, boat dock at the Grand Floridian or balcony at the Contemporary) which will definitely avoid the crowds both for the fireworks themselves and for leaving MK.

We have also caught Wishes when returning to the car via the Transportation Centre - a fairly decent view of the hih-level fireworks.

If you are planning on being in MK, we found that if you head towards Splash/Big Thunder Mountain and watch from there, the crowds around that side are a bit quieter than in front of the castle and down Main Street.

You don't say if you are staying on-site at Disney? If you are, then I would suggest using the Disney Bus Service from your resort to MK and return - this will avoid you having to deal with the queues for the boat or monorail to get back to the Transportation Centre, then the queues for the tram for the car park.

Thanks for the tip - we are staying onsite.:)
