Anybody watching this crappy rude new invest out in the Atlantic? Are there any good links for local analysis? I'm up in New England and all Im going off of is National Weather Channel which can blow things out of proportion, I think local florida meteorologists have a better grasp on these things. We take off in 7 days, hoping this wont be a "thing".

I'm not that worried about Franklin, it should be about done when we arrive I hope. I'm worried about the other one out there. It doesnt seem like it is going to be real bad but they are saying it is heading straight to Florida last I checked. Which means a bunch of rain.

Not Franklin. The new invest, only 30% right now but NWC mentioned it could swing up rather than across.

A few days ago the models had high confidence of it becoming a major storm. Like always, weather changes fast and now the chances are basically zero.

Just watched the tropical update... there's a 30% chance of development and they have the system going near Florida but not a landfall as of now

Computer models all have it staying well out to sea and having no effect on Florida.
NHC only gives it a 30% chance of any development within 5 days.
You said you aren't even going to FL for another 7 days, so even if things do change and it somehow developed and hit Florida, it would likely be long gone by the time you even got here.
I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I was aware of it, only because by coincidence the 10-15 minutes of cardio I do per day at the gym is right when the tropical update is on TWC. It's so far out, and not even a tropical system yet. Not even anything to concern yourself with. If it becomes a storm and is 200 miles off the coast, then start looking at it.

I just become paranoid I think. It's almost like if I worry about it and stay on it, it won't happen. If I'm oblivious to things then stuff happens. I'm also a bad judge of timing with these things, if its a weather pattern happening over NJ, I know it will reach us in 3 hours or so but I don't know much about timing of weather patterns down there. Thanks for the reassurance.

Way too early to tell at this point. This time of year, it is important to keep an eye on weather systems though. It will probably be nothing since I will not be there when you are. The last two Aug trips I went, FL was in the path of a hurricane both times!

It's not exactly local, but WFLA in Tampa has excellent weather.

But honestly, I live in central Florida and anything below a Category 3 is met with, "Darn, I'm going to have to mow the lawn an extra time."
So since you live in central Florida what do you predict with rain and storms for this coming next few days?

It will rain. It might also storm. When and how long varies.

I realize this sounds snarky, but rain and storms in summer for Florida just comes with the territory. This time of year is getting past the "It's raining, it must be 4:30" season, so it's harder to say with certainty. You may luck out and have some days with just a short spell that gets blown past quickly, or in the morning before you go out (the best kind!).

Not snarky at all. I know it rains almost every day in August but wondered if it you thought it will be all day rain and storms with this hurricane Franklin swirling around down there lol. I can deal with a few hours but not all day.
