I was in my garage and spilled gasoline on my slippers and sweat pants. I have washed them twice in the washing machine and they still smell of gasoline.

Any tips on how to get the smell out of the cloths and the washing machine?

using some ammonia in the wash. Believe it or not, with the strong odor it has itself, it will remove odors.

If BC's advice doesn't work, I'd put the clothing outside and let it air out. Maybe run the washer thru a few cycles? Vinegar might also work on the washer. Just add some to the wash cycle.

Rats! I just checked but could not find any ammonia in the house. I will have to wait until tomorrow to go to the store.

Putting the cloths out in the fresh air would be one of the ideal solutions, but the temp is now 22 degrees and snowing hard. :santa:

wash them with rags that have been soaked in baby oil. And whatever you do...DON'T put clothes that have gas on them in the dryer.

Okay. I think I am just going to toss them outside and deal with it tomorrow. Don't want to blow up the house!
