Was Cinderella's castle originally Aurora's?

I'm sure this has been on the boards before but I know the banquet in the castle was called King Stefan's Royal Table or something like that. So I would presume that this was his castle and Aurora is his daughter( Sleeping Beauty). Just came back from Disney and it has been renamed for Cinderella. So was Aurora given the boot for Cinderella? Thanks for any info. princess: princess: princess:

I know you are correct in the name for the banquet hall - now Cinderella's Royal Table. I think, though, the castle has always been Cinderella's. Somewhere along the line someone realized the names didn't jive!!

Aurora's castle is in Disneyland. This one has always been Cinderella Castle. Don't know where the King Stefan reference came from. :confused3 Wish I had my old guidebooks. . .

King Stephan's Feast always used to confuse the heck out of me. I mean, it's Cinderella Castle! I was very happy when they renamed it to CRT. Sleeping Beauty Castle is in Disneyland. Neither of the castles have changed names.

For some strange reason the restaurant in Cinderella's castle spent years being named for Aurora's father. I guess nobody would have recognized the King from Cinderella. Has he even got a name? Would you line up to eat at the Banquet Hall of King Whatshisface? Sounds more like Monty Python than Disney.

The castle at Disneyland is Sleeping Beauty Castle.

The King in "Cinderella" didn't have a name, so it seemed like they just named the Hall after the only maned Disney King at the time. Actually, the restaurant was named long after the Castle. Originally, the area was supose to be part of Walt's fabled Cinderella Castle apartment. After he died while the Castle was still in the design stages, the apartment was abandoned and turned into backstage area for the Castle Show cast and a restaurant- King Stefans.

They made the castle at DW different because the Disney rule is that a princess can only have one castle per continent.

Just curious who's castle is in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Paris? I heard the castle's are different at each park.

The castle in Tokyo is Cinderella's Castle; it is an exact duplicate of the castle at WDW.

The castle in Hong Kong is Sleeping Beauty castle; it is an exact dupicate of the castle at Disneyland, California.

The castle in Pairs is also Sleeping Beauty castle but is different from the others.

this thread has me curious now...

I saw Sleeping Beauty Castle in 2001...

And I've seen Cinderella Castle just this past year...but I don't know if I could tell the difference right off...

Does anyone know where you can see "side by side" pics of all the castles?

Don't know where you can see the castle pictures side by side, but I'll bet you would definitely be able to tell the difference between Sleeping Beauty in DL and Cinderella's in WDW. Sleeping Beauty's is much much shorter and also then looks wider, while Cinderella's just towers over the MK.

I love them both....

After many trips to WDW and having the image of Cinderella Castle in my mind, Sleeping Beauty Castle in DL seems so tiny!! :wizard:

And I forget why...but they are Cinderella Castle and Sleeping Beauty Castle, not Cinderella's, etc. Dang. Now I'll have to go look that up. Something about that they don't "own" them...or something. Going to drive me crazy now. :goodvibes

I understand the Paris castle is not Sleeping Beauty's, but Belle's.

In French the castle is called Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant, which is Sleeping Beauty. I think the fact that Belle is in there confuses some.

Nope...though Belle is French, the castle in Disneyland Paris is for Sleeping Beauty.

Its French name is Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant (Sleeping Beauty's Castle)

and it's a lovely castle...at least in photos. Have not had the opportunity to see it in person.

I'm not sure where you can see side by side pics, but if you Google the castles, you can definitely find images of all of them. Perhaps you could download them and compare. I would be happy to download them to Photobucket and put them side by side for you, but I don't know if I can use other people's images like that on the boards.

I think the noticeable difference is that Cinderella's Castle hits you right int the face when you walk in...it is the absolute focal point. Sleeping Beauty was not built to be the first thing you see. Also, I dont know if this is true, but I heard the "Chateau" in Disney Paris was Belle's from Beauty and the Beast...any truth to that? Nevermind, I see the answer...I guess I took longer than I thought, All of this wasnt posted when I began to post! woops. princess:

i think it is so disappointing that the same two princesses get all the castles! Belle should have the French castle, and Snow White could use some recognition too, right? ;)
