As pretty as Paris' castle is, I think it would have been so neat to have it be Belle and Beast's castle. It fits the geographical location, and it's so pretty in the movie.
If they were going to build Prince Eric and Ariel's castle, perhaps they should have done it at Tokyo Disney Sea! But since it's not a "Magic Kingdom" park I doubt they would.
FWIW, us Disneylanders have our fun little explanation as to why Disneyland's castle is so small (besides the REAL reason. Being the first of its kind, Walt putting every cent he had into DL and all..). Anyway in Sleeping Beauty, when King Stefan is laying out the plans for Aurora and Philip's castle, he talks about it being a "starter" castle, nothing too large and elaborate. So you can think of the castle at Disneyland as Aurora and Philip's charming little newlywed castle.
