Was anyone at WDW on July 17th?

As we all know by now, July 17th is Disneyland's official openning date. I heard that at Disneyland for the 50th Birthday celebration on the 17th, they handed out free Golden Mouse Ears with the date embroidered on the back, vintage park maps and free birthday cupcakes to all guests. Did anything like this happen at the World?

Sorry, I just read your post. I was in the MK last Sunday, July 17. I did not notice anything like what you described.

We were there. We just returned last night. Nothing like that happened, but we did have a fabulous time!

Anyone remember WDW's 15th Birhday celebration in the 80's? As you walked through the gates, you would get a printout for a birthday prize. It could be a pin (I have), a visor (I have), among other prizes, including a car awarded once a day for the entire year. The car winner and their family would be the stars of the WDW Birthday parade later in the day. Disney really knows how to put on a show!

I remember that! It was awesome! I also remember the theme song from that celebration: Fifteen years! We're havin' a party! At Walt Disney World! The celebration's NOW!

We were at the Magic Kingdom on the evening of the 17th. The only thing that happened was that something went wrong with the sound for Wishes! About a minute into the show they cut the sound and only had the fireworks. We were very disappointed. The fireworks are beautiful but it would have been much better with sound.

I was there for the broken Wishes fireworks too! What a disappointment - others in my family had never seen it and that was their only opportunity...

October 1, 2021. 50 years from MK's opening day. Better get busy making those reservations!
