Warriors WISHing for Spring!

Kate - All the best on your wedding! I can't believe you didn't invite all the Warriors!!! :lmao: Seriously, I wish you a lifetime of happiness together.

Amanda

Congratulations Kate I hope you are both soooo happy together forever!

I wish I was a more patient waiter- that would make this so much easier 4 days til surgery now! Today I will do 4 miles on the elliptical.

Hi all

Pam- Hope the surgery goes well.

Jim - Nice job on the multisport training

Kate - Congratulation on the wedding.

Amanda - Nice job on you and your DH's running.

This weeks been pretty good. I did a 13 mile training run on Wednesday. I'm doing a 5K on Sunday so I did it early. The temp was about as ideal as July could get. 62 degrees at the start of the run 75 degrees at the end. Finished in about 3:15 without any major pushing.

Happy Thursday Warriors!

Working today. No workouts. Trying to rest my elbow which has a SCREAMINGLY painful case of tendonitis right now. Can push, but no pull, so that limits my weights.

Rode for 1+30 & ran for about 0+40 yesterday with a total distance of about 32.5 miles. Almost got whacked on my bike by a dumba** bubba in a huge pickup truck that turned left across traffic in front of me. Hard on the brakes +lots of yelling & he was still freakin' clueless. Another sign that yes, indeed, evolution IS a failure. The stupid genes continue to outnumber & dominate the planet.

That's about it. Still hot. Still too lazy to get up early, but I DID do some swim training at the beach a couple of days ago. Sometimes progress is measured in really small steps.....

Rock On Warriors!!

Thanks for all the congratulations! It means a lot :D

Jim come on you know you're stronger! You're like the iron man! The fact that you can even complete training in that heat means your stronger that most people I know!

Jeremy wahoo on the long 13 miles, that's wonderful. Have a great 5k too.

Amanda you are most welcome! ha ha- if you make it over here then the least I could do is invite you :rotfl: Seriously, thanks for the well wishes. I can't wait to spend my life with DFiance!

Pam how did the surgery go? I was thinking of you.

foot flared up again so I'm back on the bike! Guess I should be careful as have to get those pretty white shoes on in 1 week :goodvibes

Pam - Any news on the surgery? Thinking of you and wishing for a speedy recovery!!!
Jeremy - You're doing great!!!
Jim - I know what you mean about small steps....
Kate - Sorry for the set-back. I can't believe your wedding is in ONE week! I'm very excited for you. It makes me remember how exciting and fun my own wedding was (11 years ago!). ENJOY every minute!

I did a 7 mile run today. My kids were at a sleep-over so I was able to run outside. It wasn't too hot (high 70's to low 80's) but hot enough to need water. It felt pretty good and I finished in about 1.5 hours which is pretty good time for me on a training run. I feel like my training is going pretty well at this point. We'll see what happens as the distances increase...

Amanda

Hi all.

Jim - This heat been rough on a lot of the country. Our heat is as hot as some, but hotter than we're used to. Glad you weren't hurt.

Kate - Sorry to hear about your foot. Hopefully it will feel good for your big day.

Amanda - Nice job on the run.

This weeks been pretty good.

I ran my 5K on Sunday. Finished in 38:52 12 sec. shy of a PR. But that doesn't tell the whole story. I had been going back and forth about what strategy to use. I decided to try and run the whole (or nearly whole) thing. I've been working on continuous running but had only worked up to 2 miles before my hip started bothering me. I started out a little bit too fast but fixed that (I thought) I finished my first mile in 12:20. Started the second mile and things were going fairly good. There was a water stop about 1.5 miles in and decided take a short walk break. Started back running and finished the second mile in 12:27. At that point, things fell apart. The course went back out into the sun and I had to switch to a run/walk. Mile 3 was at a 13:27 pace, the first 1/2 of that mile was at a 13:45 pace. So the race ended up with 2 great miles and 1 lousy one. Considering where my training has been without walk breaks it was pretty good.

Wednesday, Did 5 miles.

Today did speedwork. 8X800m with 400m recovery.

Morning Warriors,

Surgery is over and went well. I was walking unaided by Wed. evening and almost normal (once I get warmed up) by saturday. I am keeping it wrapped (to keep any additional swelling down) when I'm up and about, but trying to keep the ACE off when I'm sitting. My post op appointment is tomorrow and I'm hoping for the ok to at least hit the elliptical if not the road/track. Every now and then there's still a sharper pain depending on how I step I think so I'll wait until I talk to nurse practicioner tomorrow. (I feel the need to sweat again LOL)

I've been filling my time reading and quilting it just isn't the same LOL.

Pam, that's geat news :cool1: but do not push it. A little too much now might add a long time to total recovery.

first workout since surgery yesterday- lifting with my cross fit class and then 2 miles on the elliptical. Lesson learned I need to wear a compression something on the new knee and come home immediately (no extra errands) and ice the durn thing! Otherwise it went well. I'm going to go out and walk today- the weather here is perfect for that here today. (with a wrap or compression sleeve on the knee)

Pam Great news on the knee. Hope the rest of your recovery goes smooth.

I just thought I'd pop on to say hello to you all for the first time as a wifey!!! :yay: Had such an amazing day, there are a few pics appearing on facebook for you guys who are friends on there. I'll try to pop some on when we get back from honeymoon. We finally set off to WDW on tuesday :goodvibes

Hello fellow Warriors,

Been a long time since I posted. Been really really hot here in the midwest this summer (I know it's been hot everywhere). Only a little over two weeks until the Disneyland 1/2. Have done all of my training early early mornings to try and beat the heat.

We sailed on the Disney Dream last month for the first time. What a wonderful fantastic time we had!!! We even bought into DVC while on board. We listened to their presentation, and the went back to our state room to discuss it. After we added up just what we have spent the last three years on Disney vacations it was a no brainer to join DVC. Should have done it many years ago.

Hope you all are healthy or getting there. Hope to see some of you at Disneyland.

Stan

Hi Warriors ~

It's been a LOOOOONNNNGGGG time since I checked in, but I just wanted to congratulate Kate!

:cheer2:CONGRATULATIONS!!:cheer2:

Hi Warriors!

CONGRATULATIONS KATE!!!! :goodvibes I saw some pictures on Facebook (we need a stalking smiley) and you looked gorgeous! Hope you're enjoying your honeymoon!

We're 2 weeks until the DL half marathon and I'm getting excited! I'm totally undertrained, but it'll happen. It might not be fast or pretty, but it'll happen. I've avoided the DL half for the last few years because I KNEW that I wouldn't run through the summer, and I was totally right! :rolleyes1

I did my first triathlon last weekend and had a lot of fun! My swim (800m) was 20 minutes, my bike (12 miles) was 58 minutes and my run (5K) was 38 minutes - for a total of 2:07 with the transitions. I'm really happy with my swim and 'meh' about the run, but the bike killed me. It really drove home how I will need a decent road bike if I'm going to do anything longer than a sprint. My hybrid bike is fine for commuting and riding for fun, but it was painful when I was pedalling on my highest gear on a downhill... and I got passed by two people coasting. :scared1:

Looking forward to seeing those who will be at the DL half in a couple weeks! We'll need to have at least a quick Warrior meet up!
