Just wanted to post my experience:

We just closed on a loaded contract at OKW with banked points (glad we pulled the trigger before the price increases).

When the points showed up in my account, the banked points were missing. I remembered what had been said in here, about them not showing up, but that MS could still see them, so I didn't worry about it. However, when I went to use my points, I mentioned the banked points, and they said that there were none.

I was polite but insistent. She put me on hold to have the "Team" look at it, and came back and said that there were no 2014 points on the account or in banked or Transferred status and that I should talk to the people I purchased from, intimating that they must have somehow used them. Fortunately, I knew that my broker and Title Company were reliable, and had just reconfirmed the points right before filing the deed.

She put me on hold and came back a second time. This time, she told me that any banked points were listed in my 2015 points. I explained that meant that my 2015 was off, because all that was showing was my regular allotment for 2015 and 2016. She put me on hold again.

Finally, she came back and said that they had to dig into the system, but acknowledged that they are having a "system glitch" that is losing banked points when accounts are transferred. They are fixing the issue with my account, and the points will show up as 2015 points in my account (supposedly by the EOB today).

Just wanted to give others a heads up. If I hadn't been paying attention, that would have been a significant unrecoverable points loss...

Thank you for the heads up! It pays to pay attention - even after you are a member. It's a good habit to review your points after each transaction to be sure they are as you expect. :)

You really do need to know what you have and try to keep it straight. We have a total of 4 contracts, and she kept wanting to look at my older contracts. I had to keep pulling her back to the new one. She was trying to review what we had done with our points BEFORE adding this account - ummm, that wouldn't effect this point total, lol. It's all good now. Points are showing up correctly in my account, and as an added bonus, they are now bankable. ;)

Thanks for sharing your experience. I will definitely keep this in mind as we are closing on a resale contract with 2 years of banked points.

Can you clarify? How can a contract have 2 years of baked points? Do you mean last year's banked into this year and this year's banked into next year?

I can answer this as we have bought triple-loaded point contracts a few times. In our example, we bought a December UY contract in May that had all 2013 points banked into 2014, so they would expire November 30, 2015. Then, the 2014 points were banked into the 2015 UY, so the contract came with double banked points.

Yes, this is exactly the situation with our contract. Thank you for clarifying.

So, when you bought the contract, the points that were CURRENTLY available for you to use were the BANKED points from the previous UY because the CURRENT UY points had already been banked into the next year, correct? (Dec UY always mess me up....that's why we went with Feb:teeth:)

Yes, that's exactly correct. The contract is a DEC UY that has all points that were originally from 2013 onward.

Guessing this may have happened to us. We purchased a resale contract with a portion of the 2014 points banked and our points were loaded today but only show the annual allotment - no additional points in the 2015 use year that would be banked. We've purchased resale numerous times and never had this happen (thought haven't had banked points every time, last two didn't have current year).

Should have been 38 banked points into 2015, and we only show the normal 100.

We had the same problem with the banked points that came with our contract not showing up in our account, we had to ring up to use them for our booking.

I just bought a contract and the points were all over the place. Banked, borrowed, all mixed up. I can't wait to see what this looks like when they are loaded into my account :). Glad I read this, thank you!!

This is still a problem. I both chatted with and called MS yesterday. Chat person said there were "IT issues with the contract, they're working on it and will let me know when resolved." Yea, 1) that's been true for months so I don't trust any resolution and 2) by when? We want to use our missing banked points soon. I was told to call MS for more details.

I called MS and the person claimed they couldn't even see the contract in question. Which made me chuckle because I can. It's in our membership profile and the current use year points are there - just no banked points. Anyway... she said I'd have to call member administration on Monday.

So, no one seems to know what's going on or have an answer.

Just wanted to add that we also recently closed on a contract with 2 years of banked points. The points were not visible to me online, but MS had no issues seeing them or utilizing them. We had banked points that were expiring at the end of November that I needed to use right away. I also inquired as to whether this situation would be corrected so that banked points could be viewed online? I was told that all resale contracts with banked points will not be able to be booked or visible online and there was no plan to "correct" the situation. It made snagging last minute reservations a lot harder having to call MS, but we managed.

There are two separate issues. The issue you describe here, where banked points aren't showing up but MS can still see them and use them, and the issue I was writing about in here where banked points from a previous year are not carried forward, and cannot be seen by MS. While the issue in your scenario is annoying, at least the points are still there, and can be used. The problem with my scenario is that MS denied that they existed, and THAT is a HUGE issue.

In either case, DVC should have better IT, and be able to avoid either scenario, and it serves as a reminder to make sure that we don't rely on others to keep track of our points...

Well our new contract that was showing and had added our current year points is now gone and the points are too. So, had the contract there just missing banked points. Now the contract and points are gone.

No clue what's going on.
