Just wondering if anyone else has a dumb cat that eats Easter grass. I try to keep it away from him but somehow he found it because I just had to pull some out of his........well you know. :scared: I almost threw up. Sorry had to share.

FYI, it can kill them, so that is why you should never have Easter grass if you have cats. Also no tinsel for Christmas trees.

We had to babysit SIL's kids and their cat one Easter. Idiot cat got into the Easter grass and had the stuff hanging out of it's keister. DH was the lucky one who had to pull it out!!!! The kids thought it was hysterical!!!!!!!

yes:rotfl: ...that is why we don't get the plastic kind any more - just the paper kind(in addition to putting the baskets away at night).;)

only had a problem with the paper kind once - the cat threw up and it stained the carpet...yikes! Still better than pulling it out of their butt, I guess!:)

For the record you should NEVER pull anything out of an animals back end.
It could be entangled in the intestines and then you would have a really sick animal or a dead animal.

It can cause intestinal damage/blockage requiring surgery if you catch it in time.
Absolutely. Other items to keep out of kitties reach are rubber bands and thread/string/yarn. (I am sure there are many more items that can cause a problem) When these things cause an intestinal issue, by the time you know something is wrong they are REALLY sick. And many times, the owner has no idea they even ate anything they shouldn't have.

It's one of my cat's favorite foods, right after curling ribbons, which she chews off the wrapped presents under the Christmas tree. People must think I'm really wrapping-impaired.

I had to clean up a couple of little green presents she coughed up for me this morning.

From here;

Trying to pull out visible grass or string is not recommended, as this can cause more damage if the piece is long and trapped far inside the body.

Also, please take care to keep lillies (the flowers) out of your home of you have cats. The pollen that your cat may clean off it's own fur after simply walking under a flower can cause renal failure.

Yes, our stupid cat started eating it today..but thankfully i got it away before she could chew it up.
Also, thanks for the tips on the lillies.I did not know that..:goodvibes

my cat snuck himself a little easter grass treat last night and hacked up a treat for me this morning...UGH darn kitty

Should I call the vet? He acts fine. I wish I wouldn't have done that.

Our cats must be related. Balloon ribbons too. They are like kitty crack and he just can't resit. Rose petals (or any flower.)

BTW, had the problem the OP mentioned, but instead of having to pull it out it was just dragging around the house. It was bad. DH tried chasing the cat around the house. This was a while ago (when we were in an apartment). We didn't even have kids back then, why did we have easter grass? :confused3

Thanks for the link. My SIL just brought some over last night (for easter) and I mentioned how the cat loves to eat all our plants. She was worried it would hurt him and we joked about it (because he is a pain in the *** cat.) I didn't realize they are actually hurt him. We have been locking them up at night and when we aren't home, but the cat has left them alone during the day. I will be more careful with the Lillies now. I just locked them up for the night.
