Warning for those that got the Rachael Ray Mag deal

This just happened to me, too. Got March's issue two weeks ago and April's last week! You're right, I should have received May by now... I will definitely check my expiration date and email to have the subscription extended. Thanks!!!

They are sending out issues that have already been on the newsstand and then pulled from the newsstand and replaced by newer issues.

This is not true. Magazines on the newsstand that do not sell are not returned to the publisher. They are reported 'unsold & destroyed' and tossed in the trash with the covers ripped off. It's the same thing with books.

I agree with others who don't get what the problem is. I signed up for a magazine in Feb for 4 yrs, started with the Feb issue & it expires in Feb '14. I feel like this is exactly what I paid for.

And that IS what you should get.

What if, however, they sent you January and December and gave you a renewal date of December 2013?

That isn't what you paid for. That is what some folks have had happen to them and they don't like it.

:flower: Not that you have to agree with me. It's okay to disagree about this.

This is what I was thinking...aren't you still getting the correct number of issues regardless of when it starts? I've often had that happen to me and was thrilled to get the previous month's issues...as long as my subscription is for 12 months and I get 12 issues, I'm happy.

Let's say I see magazine "ABC". I picked it up off the new stand in January. It's pretty good. I buy it again in February. I decide in March to buy a subscription. I think it should start when I purchase it - in March. I should have a renewal date of March xx.

They send me March. :woohoo: But they also send me January and February and give me a renewal date of January xx.

 Now I'm not so happy. They sent me two old issues. Ones I already purchased or could have read in the library for that matter. I didn't want those issues. I wanted it to start in March.

Maybe if I didn't already own or have read those older issues, it would have made such a difference to me. Or if they told me before hand that I would be getting older issues and I would be paying for them I would have had the option to say yes or no.

If they made it clear up front that I am saving money on the subscription over the new stand price comes with the condition that I have to have two older issues, then I would be able to make an informed decision. But they don't tell you. They just do it.

Not all magazines do. I don't think this is an industry wide practice. Is it?
