Warning- A rant about Bratz ensues.

My dd is interested in them (she's 7 and all her friends are into them). She knows that she is not allowed to have anything Bratz. No dolls, no clothes, not even a notebook with their pitcure on it. There is no way in the world that she is allowed to play with, dress up like or use anything with those little hooker dolls on them.

OTOH, I opted to let her have the dolls, rather than have to explain what a hooker was. :confused3

Seriously, my dd will be turning 9 next month and tonight she packed them all up to give away because she's 'not into girly stuff anymore'. So they're long gone by the time she'll understand that they dressed er um inappropriately.

We tell our kids not to judge a book by it's cover, then we ban toys for the way they look. (if you saw the movie, which is really really bad, you'd know that they are all straight A students. :rotfl: ) Anyway, I try to exemplify what I preach, which is to not be judgemental.

look at my tag.... LOL...

Maybe kids don't have that kind of spending power where you live, beck, but they sure do here! At our local mall, parents will drop their kids off with a fat wad of cash (and I'm talking upper elem-jr high aged here) to go shopping every single weekend/school holiday/school break.

TOV

Yeah- here too, but that's still the parents' spending power because kids that age can't work. Maybe they get allowance. And I did too. But you can bet anything that my mom was watching what I purchased!!! And if she didn't approve- back to the store it went. And of course, I'm TOTALLY scarred because of it. ;) :rotfl2:
