Wanting to start couponing smart!! HELP!

Okay, the GG veggies were on sale this week 2/$3 here. $0.75/1 coupon doubles to $1.50 at the store where they were on sale. That translates to free, thank you very much!

You may not like bottled green tea, but the person who posted that picture does. If she got if for free with her coupons, more power to her and there's no need to criticize her food preferences.

The mac and cheese may not be the healthiest of options but I don't see where the PP mentioned eating it every day to the exclusion of other foods. I try to eat a healthy diet most of the time but every once in a while, I want some easy to make comfort food. I see nothing wrong with picking up a couple of boxes of FREE, organic mac and cheese for those times.

Eggs come from chickens? Clever observation. They also come from a number of other fowl. But if you know anything about how chickens are raised, you would know that some chickens are actually fed meal that contains ground meat products. Hence the "vegetarian eggs" label. Those birds weren't fed that kind of meal. But aside from that, there are many ovo-lacto vegetarians out there who consume both eggs and milk products. While purists may not think of them as true vegetarians, that doesn't mean that they don't fall under the label.
.
Too bad about the meatballs. Maybe it was the recipe or the preparation. When I make meatballs, I use a combination of beef, pork and veal. And I would never spend $5 for a pound of ground anything unless it was a rare spice.

You always seem to have a lot of negatives to post whenever you join in on a couponing thread. It's too bad that you can't find the deals that other can but that's no reason to slam them the way that you just did.

THANK YOU!!! He sounds like he could be my nephew (in-law) :crazy2:

He told us the last time we were in their part of the country visiting that his wife had *purchased* ground beef in store versus getting it from a relative, that it just wouldn't cook, had to throw it out :rotfl: We have also purchased beef from a farm (we knew them) and there's not any difference in cooking it than a good grade meat from a reputable store/butcher.

Don't understand how some people can get so much enjoyment in totally putting someone else down for their *perceived* know better attitudes - just tells me that they are very insecure and feel better only if they can attack others verbally (especially if they can hide behind a screen name).

kdka421, sorry you were attacked so rudely. I, for one, am impressed with your purchases. Please come back :grouphug:

It's a common misconception for those who say they can get non-junk food coupons that everyone lives in the big in the south where groceries are dirt cheap.

Your bags of Green Giant vegetables would be $2.99, coupled with either a $0.50 or a $0.99 off 2, would end up at $2.49 each. Birdseye is generally on sale for $1.49 and even with a $0.50 coupon, it is still cheaper to buy the larger 24oz bag than it is to buy the 8 oz bag with a coupon. That and generic is usually $0.89 a bag.

I wouldn't drink bottled tea for anything. Nothing is more disgusting tasting and bottled tea is not good for you.

I don't care if it is organic, there is nothing healthy about any kind of mac n cheese.

Last time I checked, eggs came from chickens. I don't see how they are vegetarian.

None of those products aside from the expensive Green Giant veggies would be in any store around me.

We just bought beef for the first time in years (father-in-law raises beef.) Wifey bought the large 5 lb. package, it was $25! WOW! She made meatballs last night and we may as well throw the whole package in the garbage. She wanted to make meatballs but they turned out as rubber balls. Disgusting stuff.

I don't know what brand that is or what's in it so how do you get to "bottled tea is not good for you," exactly?

Also, first, eggs are vegetarian.

Vegans and vegetarians are two different things. Words, for fun and profit.

The vegetarian on the label means the chickens were raised on vegetarian FEED, unlike ground up other chickens along with other animal byproducts, which many factory farms use as feed.

Shaw's had these on sale last week 3 for $6.00. That is $2.00 each, along with a .75 cent coupon that shaw's doubled to $1.50, I paid .50 a bag for Broccoli. Not everything has to be expensive.

a great site for deals at walgreens/cvs etc is becentsable dot net

they tell you every week what is free, cheap, or moneymakers and what coupons to use :) I too was trying to be a good couponer and found myself spending money on things I didnt need, I now just cut out the ones that I know I am going to use. Target dot com also has lots of great coupons I find myself using, but you have to print them out. Good luck

I wish grocery prices were dirt cheap in the South.

It's a huge misconception if you think groceries are dirt cheap in the south. I live in the South and they aren't dirt cheap.

I am lucky that I can shop at the Commissary, which is about 30% cheaper than your regular grocery stores, because stuff is not marked up much. I save a lot just by shopping there and then I usually have about $20 to $25 worth of coupons every two weeks without much effort. Two weeks ago I had $55 worth, but that is unusual for me, but I hadn't bought groceries in 3 weeks and they were having a case load sale.

When I was shopping at Walmart, it was costing me $250 every 2 weeks with $1 to $5 worth of coupons, now I spend at most $150 with my coupons every 2 weeks.
