Wanting to rent pts, question about park tickets

I'm very interested in renting points for our next trip - it seems a much more economical way for us to stay in a 1 BR villa at BW. Does the DVC member you rent from also purchase your park tickets for you? Do they get a discount on the park tickets? And I suppose since I would be renting the points from a DVC member, we wouldn't be able to take advantage of Disney's meal plan? I'm trying to weigh all the pros and cons. Thanks!

My understanding is that the DVC member discounts are only for DVC members staying in a DVC resort, so even if you rented the points from a member, you couldn't participate in any of the DVC benefits. Someone may have more info, though. Either way, it's a great way to stay at WDW!!!

You'd buy your own tickets. DVC members only get discounts on APs adn it is for members only.

No, when staying on DVC points, you can't do the dining plan.

I'm guessing you'll still end up saving lot in the end, though!

The only ticket discount DVC members get is on the Annual Pass and is only available to the member and people in their household. They could not get it for you.

You will have to purchase your own tickets - the DVC member will not do this. You can purchase them from Disney, either in advance (see the web site) or when you arrive - either at your resort or at the gate. Or you can go to one of the ticket brokers such as TicketMania.com.

You will not be able to use the dining plan if you stay on points. The dining plan is only available if you buy a package from Disney including room (usually rack rate) and tickets (at least one day). The dining plan must be purchased for all people in the room and must match the number of nights you are staying.

You might or might not get some of the other discounts though. The main advantage is the savings. The main disadvantage is the lack of control with the inherent risk.
