Somewhere, somehow I remember something about there being a view of the castle. Is that true? Anyone have pictures of the actual dining room and view?

What about Citricos?

Which restaurant do you prefer and why?

Citricos has no view at all; the trees/shrubbery outside obscure most views. Narcoosees sits on the lagoon and has windows that overlook the water; some tables would have a view of the castle but certainly not all as there are windows looking in the other direction.

We prefer Citricos because we are an all adult group. Not many families dine at Citricos. The menu is fairly sophisticated, offering more complex dishes, wine pairings, etc and there is not much there that would keep young children entertained/happy.

When we do dine with younger children, Narcoosees is a very nice choice. Lots of families there. The water views with boats going by, perhaps seeing Wishes from there, is a nice entertainment factor for the younger diners. The food is good, not quite as good as Citricos, but the atmosphere is more relaxed, the restaurant has a noisier/busier (less stuffy) feel to it.

Both restaurants are signature restaurants at Disney with meal service at a leisurely pace. You should plan on minimum 90 minutes for dining.

I think the menu at Citricos is very appealing and would like to try it sometime. We chose Narcoossee's and could not have been much happier with the choice.

Narcoossee's does have a castle view. In fact if you are there during Wishes they pipe in the music and you can see the fireworks from the deck. We loved our meal, the service from Chevy was great and our 6yo loved seeing the Electric Water Parade pass by on the lagoon. He also declared his Mickey pasta "the best ever". It was served in Mickey shaped set up: sauce in one ear, grated cheese in another and pasta in a bowl that served as the head, it was cute. I had the surf and turf, but declined the turf in favor of scallops. Mom had a nightly special, grouper and the almond crusted cheesecake. I didn't need a full dessert so I just shared a kids banana split with my nephew, it was really good. We finished the cheese cake, but not the banana split. Overall a memorable night at WDW.

We've done both in the past month. You won't go wrong with either. Seriously, if I had to make a choice it would probably be simply which one was available at the time I wanted to dine. :cake:

Narcoosee's for a family night.

Citrico's for date night.

Ooo I agree with the above posters. Citrico's looked so sophisticated with a great menu and ambience when I peered in. Definitely something that we're looking to try in the near future.

We just dined at Narcoosee's on Jan. 1 and LOVED it. :lovestruc My parents and I (I'm 19) enjoyed the surf and turf, tuna, and duck I believe. The desserts were fantastic as well- especially the gelato sampler. We dressed up because we were staying at the resort and it was like a one minute walk over and also because we tend to enjoy dressing up for dinner if it's at a resort or signature restaurant, but it was casual overall. Lots of families, but surprisingly the noise volume was bearable. (Compared to the Cali Grill, it was like a library ;) ).

In terms of entertainment, Narcoosee's piped in the music and dimmed the lights so that the restaurant was much darker than Cali Grill's was when we dined there on 12/28/08. However, I much prefer the view of Cali Grill versus Narcosee's even though Narcoossee's has a much better view of the Electrical Water Parade. Just be wary that even if you have a window table, people can block your view if they're standing on the outside wrap-around porch. That always really annoyed me... why build a restaurant with a great view if it can easily be blocked? I wish the architecture was a little bit different to prevent this... but hey, can't complain too much. Enjoy!!!!

Do you think for the surf and turf they would do a beef/scallops combo instead of the beef/lobster?

Citricos is one of my favorite places at WDW. I eat there on practically every trip and love it. The food, service and ambience is wonderful.

Citricos does not have a view of the castle, but the fireworks can be seen from the windows at the far end of the restaurant.

Also, there have been plenty of families/children at Citricos the last several times I have dined there. Perhaps not as many as one finds at Cal Grill, but children at Citricos are far from an isolated experience.

There is a really good view of the castle and Magic Kingdom from Narcoossee's. As a family, we enjoyed our experience there very much. Here are three different links to our posts, reviews, and pictures from Narcoossee's:

We've never been to Citricos, but are considering it for our upcoming trip. Hope this helps!

We had dinner at Narcoossee's New Year's Day. We had a wonderful table by the window and watched the fireworks over the castle. Very nice. We love this restaurant.

We have been to both, and we like both. we are definitely going to Narcoosee's on our next trip, and maybe Citrico's. Our dates have shifted and that has thrown off my groove. :rotfl2:

Do you think for the surf and turf they would do a beef/scallops combo instead of the beef/lobster?

I would think so. I actually expected and would have been happy with a half portion of scallops, I'm pretty sure I got a full portion, about 6 huge scallops!

thanks for the insight...

Can you get the surf and turf on the dining plan?

Absolutely!

on our last trip in sept. we ate at both places twice. they are our two favorite places in all of disney, but I would by no means classify Narcoossees as a "family place" in all the times I have been I have seen maybe 4 kids. they are both excellent in teh areas of food and service. Narcoossees does have the nice view.

We had a terrific view at Narcoosee's and had a really great time there on our last visit. The service there was wonderful as well as our meals. I'd recommend it.:wizard:
