Interesting idea about Disney possibly planning to keep a large chunk of BLT for CRO. Could make sense since they tore down a wing of the Contemporary hotel to build it! Similar in end result to adding a few DVC rooms but mostly new hotel rooms to the Grand Californian Hotel. I wonder... Might be experimenting with both techniques to see which one works best?

I think the only way that BLT would be about to sell out is if they DID intend to keep a large percentage for CRO. I am being really simplistic by looking at the fact that in the webcast they are still selling primarily a FEB UY. That should be the first one to sell out if most new purchasers take what they are given and don't know to ask for a different UY. Now, based on what the CRO rates are for BLT currently, if they are reserving like crazy (and I would think they have some idea about this already), they will make tons of money if they 'keep' a chunk for CRO.

Okay, admittedly new to this. We are considering buying in to DVC in August. What UY should we be looking for. We like to travel in the fall or spring. Do I want to get a UY that starts after my purchase date? September or November for instance? Can I request this?

January, May, July & November are not Use Years.
February,March,April,June,August,September,October & December are.

Using September as an example :

if you travel anytime between September - May this works because banking deadline is April 30; you can have a trip booked with a check in date as late as May 31 and providing you cancelled at least 31 days before (which would be April 30) you would still be able to bank CURRENT Use Year points used in that reservation into upcoming Use Year; however, note that any banked or borrowed points used in reservation would need to used by end of that UY (August 31).
