Want to rent points. Did I do this right?

Thanks to the great info I've found here, I've decided to rent points for our next trip to WDW in October 2006. My first choice is BCV and second choice is BWV. I had read responses to someone else's post which recommended setting up an agreement now, so that everything is settled upon when the 11 month marks arrives and the member can make ressies.

Last night, I posted my dates and needed points on the rent/trade board. So far I have no responses. Do many members actually know at this point that they will have points to rent for that time? Should I wait until closer to the 11 month mark? I'm just such a planner & detail person that I like to know I have my ducks in a row.

Thanks for all of your help! I feel like I've entered a "whole new world" of Disney accommodations with DVC!! I'm soooooo excited!!!!

Thanks again!
Christy

you need to be patience.

Only a BCV or BWV member can help you now. So the OKW, SSR or VWL can't.

Oct is in the food/wine festavial - so it is a pretty popularity time at the Epcot resorts.

Thanks for the quick reply, spiceycat. I notice that you're in B'ham. I lived in B'ham for 4 years, while DH went to med school at UAB. I'm originally from Ft. Payne up in NE AL. I've lived in TN for 7 years now, but as you can see from my user name, I'm still a 'Bama girl at heart!

Nice to hear from someone "back home"

Actually, you are way ahead of those of us who rent out points! :teeth: As noted, only a small number of us can help you out now. I have already used up all my BWV points, for this year AND next year! You may need to repost at the 7 month window, OR I would be willing to help now for OKW and then rebook at BWV or BCV at the 7 month window. That is a possibility if you really want to have your ressies this far in advance. ;)

We all like to plan ahead so I know where you're coming from but you'll probably have more luck within the 7 month window. However, F&W festival is very popular with DVC members so why don't you try posting around the 10 month mark.

I spent 4 years in Huntsville too!! I earned my civil engineering degree from UAH! Use it a lot as a stay-at-home mom! ;) I met DH at UAH. Still have friends in Madison. I loved Huntsville! My DD7 has developed an affinity for all things space, so I'm thinking it might be time to take her to the Space & Rocket Center.

I tell ya'll, I have always felt "at home" on the DISboards because of our common love for Disney. It just gets better when I find some folks from home here!

If I were you, I'd bump the post you have a couple of times. If you don't hear from anyone in the next week or so, I'd try again at the 12 month mark. I'd definitly try before the 7 mo, because that is a popular time for BCV/BWV.

Good luck!

Another UAH alum here! The USSRC has changed quite a bit in the past few years so I HIGHLY recommend a road trip! DH and I volunteer out there as demo divers which is a lot of fun!

I would also try at around the 12 month mark. And again at 11. And, if you really want this reservation, sweeten the pot - offer to pay $12 a point for it.

Some people only get around to surfing these boards on the weekends, so I would say it's way too soon to worry! leave it up for a bit and I'll bet you get a response.

Hey, you've got plenty of time to to BUY a BCV or BWV contract, go through ROFR, close and be on DVC's sytem in time to book your own vacation for Oct '06. ::MickeyMo

Good idea. NOBODY can make reservations for you now for October 2006. None of us will be able to make October '06 ressies until November '05.

I'd take Crisi's suggestion and try again in October '05. That will allow you to line everything up and have the DVC owner all ready to make your ressies as soon as their 11 month window opens.

To book that early, you will only be able to rent from an owner at one of the resorts where you want to stay.

Thanks, everyone, for all of your replies and advice. I knew I could count on ya'll to point me in the right direction. I know that no one can make ressies for Oct. '06 right now. I'd just read another post advising a renter to finder a DVCer and settle on terms before the reservation window opened when you're going during popular times, such as F&WF. I have had a few offers from members who have BCV as their home resort. I'm so excited! Now I just have to talk it over with DH to determine which one will best fit our needs.

I truly appreciate all of you here. We've only stayed in value resorts before. We've been very happy with our experiences there, but I so wanted to upgrade for our next visit. DH, who is very budget-minded, didn't sound too optomistic about staying in a deluxe. BUT, he's all for renting points -- realizes that we're getting a bargain! Next, I'm working on getting APs so we can go back for our 15th anniversary in 2007! Wish me luck!

Christy

Planning is just too much fun!!
