I believe if you cancel more than 24 hours in advance you can get a refund.
Yes, but if she cancels in order to change the number of guests, she could lose her reservation alltogether. They aren't able to just change the number...they must cancel the first reservation and make a new reservation. You'd think that taking one person off the reservation wouldn't matter...they'd still have that same table.....but it doesn't work that way. The reservations are set for a particular number of people.
Very strange, but there is a whole thread about (called I lied to get an ADR) or something, but apparently if you call in and say I need a table for 3.....and the computer shows there are only tables for 4 available.....they will tell you there is nothing available....even though obviously your party of 3 will sit at a table that is capable of 4. The thread is showing that people are then asking for a reservation for 4. I even read several posts that said the CM told them to request 4 and just show up with 3. And if it's at a place where you must prepay....then your phantom 4th would be a 2 year old who is of course free, so you didn't prepay for them, and they mysteriously don't attend dinner (guess they're off on the carousel???)
Now...I've also read a thread where a family had one member that had been prepaid not go to the CRT reservation....they were given a refund for that person even though they hadn't officially cancelled....but the refund was in the form of a gift card. Not sure if this was an exception, or if it was because someone was ill, or if it was beceause the rest of the party did show up. As I understand it, they take payment ahead of time because this is so popular and that way people actually show up for their reservation. If that's the case, it seems only fair to give a refund if only one of your party doesn't attend. The table was still used, not empty.
Based on that thread, maybe OP could call and say grandma can't make it, but now I'll be bringing a 2 year old and ask them to adjust the charges without changing the party size. I think I'd personally just go and explain what happened and hope that they gave me a refund for grandma. I can't imagine how they wouldn't...."sorry even though grandma's not eating we're gonna charge you for her food....the CMs in the kitchen need to eat."
