Want to eat Conch on Nassau

*****NOTE THIS********* if u do not like super spicy make sure u tell them NO GOAT PEPPER------- bahamaians use this to spice it up and its way hotter than wasabi!!

thanks for the tip.

AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH two more places and you had to say they were the best..... This is like a gauntlet in the face.. I may have to skip breakfast on the ship to do this right...

And Firefly and you taunt me with this goat pepper.. Man that sounds tempting. Can not make it too hot.. and with that name.. Oh Boy

Too bad we aren't on the same cruise, we could buddy up and go from place to place comparing conch, and by sharing we could try more and not get too full before we try all different places and different dishes! My DH would be on board!

The Travel Channel mentioned "needing to try the pistol." My DH, of course, is intrigued by this and wants to do it. Oh husbands :confused3:rotfl2:!! Do you know if any of the restaurants suggested offers this? Is this something not on the menu that you can ask for? I'm assuming since Imperial Takeaway is for the locals, that we are likely to find this there? I want to eat somewhere locals eat, that is usually where you find the real good stuff IMO. But of course, would love to hear from everyone.

in Nassau- Goldies or Poop deck are the best place for all conch!!!! :worship:
I prefer Conch salad any day, its cold and delish!!!!:thumbsup2

cracked conch is fried and awesome!!!usually looks like chicken tenders but a little chewier....

conch fritters are an awesome appetizer the are little fried balls, usually conch onion pepper mixed in pancake batter and fried.....

When we were at Goldies they asked us how we wanted our conch salads. My dh said spicy, I said medium, and my dd said mild. I couldn't help but think of the 3 bears!

I'm not telling DH about pistols. He likes mountain oysters etc and I don't want to encourage any more of THAT behavior!:rotfl2:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Yes; I didn't know anything about it but left the Travel Channel on "Top 10 Must do's in the Bahamas" and that was #9. :goodvibes

I recently watched a guy in a little boat tied to the pier next to the little police station in front of the Straw Market make a conch salad from scratch right there on his little boat.

I'm pretty sure it is a translucent tube like reproductive organ.
Can you say puke?

You are correct.

A lot of restaurants in FL serve conch. We eat it all the time.

Where in Fl? If we can get this at home, no need to try it elsewhere. If you eat it all the time, can u attest to it "magical" powers? I assume it is something you was down with a drink.

Oh, I don't eat the pistol, if that's what you're talking about. That's just nasty. I think that's mainly an island thing.
As for where to get conch, we live on the south east coast. Pretty much all non-chain seafood restaurants have conch. There's a little diner near my house that has conch fritters on their menu too. Grills, near the port has conch fritters. http://www.grillsseafood.com/menu.php
