Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

I am hoping to book Test Track for our original Epcot day
If you were able to prebook right now (your first park day being July 24th) TT is only booked solid for day 1 and day 2 of your stay. There are still LL times from Day 3 and beyond. Here's hoping it stays that way, or even better, since EP is on your 4th day.

I tried to find this answer, but couldn’t. Can you please help?

Later in our stay, we have our LL’s booked back to back at 9 AM, 10 AM, and 11 AM. I’m guessing that we might want to sleep in one or more of these days. What happens if we let the first LL expire (which is a tier 2) but then we do tap into the second Lightning lane in the 10am-11am window?

What happens to that first LL? (I know it doesn’t unlock the ability to book a tier 1)

If the 9am-10am window expires, after 10am can I book another Tier 2 lightning lane with that LL slot, or do you need to tap into a LL to book any more day-of LL’s?

Let’s say it’s for something like Pirates at 9am but we don’t get to the park until 10:30am. What happens to 1) My ability to use a LL for Pirates that day and 2) my ability to book another LL in place of the expired Pirates LL.

…or if I know I’m going to miss that first LL window of the day should I (the day before or maybe the morning-of) just modify that lightning lane to something else so it doesn’t just expire?

Thanks in advance!

I keep seeing comments elsewhere about doing a "dry run"....how can you do that when you do not have a ticket and it will not allow you past the 1st screen?

You can modify . However if you sleep in and miss it you can still cancel after the fact and it will then let you book your 3rd ride.

Also once you ride just one in starting park you can cancel the other 2 rides and then book those elsewhere. Oddly you can’t modify to another park but cancel and rebooking works. Just did this in May.

Also if you have an ILL you can move it to another day! Just note still can only have 2 per day. When booking my July trip I goofed and booked GOTG for the wrong day. So I used modify and moved to a different date. I also have done that a few trips since June ‘24.

There have been reports of 60m or longer grace periods (we personally experienced up to 20m, which is new), but I almost hesitate to share that information because we haven’t been to WDW since Jan and it may have changed.

Thank you both!

In my example above, if I forget to modify Pirates before I get to the park, say at 10:30am (and I also miss the grace period), can I still cancel and rebook Pirates, or am I out of luck?

Just trying to figures out all the nitty-gritty of this latest LLMP system. Thanks.

I have done that. I would book SM for midday intending to move to later then wake up from a nap and the window would be over and wouldn’t let me rebook it. I tried I canceling and rebooked without any issues. That’s how I learned to do it .

I don't know if this makes sense but I have been looking at LLMP prices as they have com up as there is pricing up to when we are there. I checked a couple of days ago for HS on August 6th and today I checked again and it seems the price went down $2. I thought once prices were online that they were set. Do they keep changing or did I just make a mistake last time I looked?

No, sorry but you are mistaken, and yes it does happen for Guests.

Once published to the Online Calendar the pricing does not change. And they are posted for a 21 day window. It has been this way since last July 24th when LLMP and/or LLSP launched.

We're here now and it hasn't changed. Certainly can at any time though, but as of now once a ll expires you can book a new one (does not unlock ability to book tier 1s) and then still use the expired one for a bit.

August 5th is the 7th day before my stay. I want to get Test Track for Friday the 15th.

So you stay starts on Tuesday, August 12th then that would make Tuesday August 5th, 7 days before and the start of your LL booking window at 7 AM ET.

I might be overthinking this, but does this mean you can let a lightning lane expire, rebook the same attraction for later and then still use the expired version before the grace period ends, therefore giving you two times on the same attraction?

Or do you need to rebook something different?

We've got 1 day to try to do new-to-us rides at MK and EP. I wouldn't say I had the best luck with MP/SP selections this morning. I think we're going to try to rope drop TBA (not sure how sound that is) and then the other issue is that my SP for Tron is later in the afternoon and pushing back our park hop time to EPCOT. I know that I can (and believe me I will) stalk the app for a better Tron time, but is there a chance that if we go to guest services, they may take pity on us and move our Tron SP earlier in the day?
Highly unlikely. I think the only pity we've heard being doled out by guest services is for sick people or those who find out they physically can't ride.

Try for sure but I would plan on it not moving, ILLs don't see as much switching action as MPLLs.

No, if you let your LL expire, you cannot book again for that ride. @brockash was likely saying you could book another ride.

Oh no, not the same attraction. You can only book an attraction once. I'm saying if you don't end up using it, you can book another attraction once it "expires". In our experience in the past as well as today; you can still use the expired fastpasd, but again that can change atcany time. Also, letting it expire will not give you the ability to book a tier 1 attraction if you haven't already unlocked that by scanning into an attraction.

Chiming in on the expired LL convo: when we used the system over 4th of July, we were able to book new LL as soon as the window on the old one expired. We couldn’t move or rebook the expired ones, but we did use them late (like 90 minutes) and get a green Mickey when we tapped in.

The biggest challenge with this strategy is if you get an MEP. Once you have that, the system will use that instead of a LL outside the window (this applies to both the 5 minutes before and any time after expiration). If your MEP isn’t eligible for the ride you’re tapping into, no problem. You can’t use a Pirates MEP at Space, so it’ll pull the Space expired ahead of the Pirates MEP. But, if you get a good MEP, you need to start using only your LL windows until you use that MEP. We got them for Rise on a morning where it started down and the CM who was loading them onto our bands made sure to let us know we had to be careful and not use any LL outside the window or it would take the Rise MEP instead of the early/late LL.
