Splash What a awful place. Some of the other demo people can be let's just say different.
The Walmart around here are too packed with the aisle too narrow. I can't
see how a cart would be able to go by with out hitting me or the table.

Yesterday I walked the grocery side of ST looking for my dips. They didn't have it were my instuctions said. Good thing the guy from Frito who told me he saw it on the dock and brought them out for me.

Splash to bad your too far for this ST. It is pretty nice, everyone is helpful and nice. Maybe you could scare away one of the MC people who comes once in awhile. She has never put up or taken down her own table, or found her own products.

Splash I feel for you, I am so glad I have not run across that yet... Most have been super nice with no problems... I have been to at least 10 different wal marts and most the time they just leave me alone. The only people I talk to are other demo people and they do their own thing too.
My son did the chip and dip this weekend, and they did not have any of his product.. they didn't get their shipment so he did baked chips and salsa....
I took the weekend off... I have too many off dates to work weekends..
Plus my husband has been out of town for 2 months now, he only comes home on the weekend, so I don't work so I can be with him and the kids....
anyway, I have the spiderman event today, the one with fiber one and twix yogurt... tomorrow, the same plus the yoplait and soy milk, Yes a double....
She said I would get paid just like it was 5 hours each.... then Wed and Thur I have Hungry Jack poatoes... No work this coming weekend!!!!
I won't go into what I have next week,,, But I will have a week just like this next week..... including the double event...

Splash - Do you use the plastic tablecloths under your microwave? I thought the heat from the microwave would melt them. I can hear it now - Fire on Isle 5, Fire on Isle 5. :lmao: I have an old white linen table cloth I’ve been using for cooking demos that’s way too large and I'd like to use plastic if possible. I too had my bowl overflow once in the microwave. And yes, it was a mess. Thank goodness there were plenty of towels in the meat department. It was my mistake as I put the lid on the bowl after the ½ & ½ and sauce was added. I guess you weren’t suppose to put the lid back on like at the beginning. Sorry to hear about your day yesterday. I’m sure Mr. Sunflower man knew you hadn’t been to that store before and could have provided some friendly advise as you were setting up - not an hour into the demo. I’m sure he saw you setting up. I wouldn’t have minded if I’d been approached in a friendly manor as I was setting up, but an hour later I’d been miffed.

My Hungry Jack Potatoes event was weird. I’m pretty sure I was audited yesterday. As I’m preparing my first batch, there was a couple, already had a full shopping cart, headed straight to my table from a few isles away and stared at me. I told them it’d be about 10-12 more minutes, what I was making, and offered them a recipe card. About 15 min. later, still with a full shopping cart, they came back. My second box of potatoes had an overflow that needed to be cleaned. Halfway through the demo the top of my head was hurting, like something was poking it. Turns out I’d put my hat on over my sunglasses.:headache: Lastly, I’d had an “engaging” conversation with one consumer. She left and came back a few minutes later and handed me this piece of folded paper and said “this is for you”. At first, I thought it was an auditor with a BONUS. No, it was a religious pamphlet. The potatoes went over quite well. I only had a couple of consumers who didn’t like them. Started with 14 boxes and sold 11. Guess I didn’t win the sales contest.

Wenpop, I have asked if I could do mine as a double on Wednesday. I'm still waiting to hear back from Taylor. I have never done one. Would you please tell me how it works?

I am doing trix and fiber one today, then I have 5 more events in the next 8 days.:scared1: (What was I thinking???) But it sure will look nice in my Disney and homeschool funds.

Hey Everyone,

Just got back from Disney on Saturday and did the Hungry Jack on Sunday. I was upset because I ran out of the 11 boxes I had by 2:30pm and people wanted to buy them so they started buying the velveeta brand potatoes.

Wenpop, you go girl! I like that schedule you have. I missed out on the off dates this time because we were on vacation but I plan to do that so that I can take some more sundays off. Our family really misses church.

Hey thanks for letting us know about the double, you got my mind turning now too!

Hey Splash, I ran into a very particular dept head like that at a new Walmart. The Dept Manager even tried to get me to switch products because she wanted that brand cleared out. THe Dept Manager even announced on the PA that I was given samples out:scared1: It was during my Pillsbury Cinnamon roll run. So I know how you feel when you are like could you please get lost and leave me alone. While I was on break they moved my table to a back corner.

DisHarley,

wow a homeschooling, demo mom. We are seriously considering this option for my for going on 5 yr old. as well as the other kids how does this work with your schedule?

oh well now it is time to start the disfund over again! Is anyone else doing the Coppertone event to they think the will puke???

MaMa3Princess, I just started to homeschool my DS5 after christmas, my DD9 is in school this year but will be homeschooled starting this summer. As far as my schedule, I had not had many off-dates until the past few weeks. After this summer, I wont be able to take as many offdates, if they even stay available. But they could end at any time.

I am a single mother , so this works really great for me.:thumbsup2

I'm scheduled for 5/5 and 5/26 but no off dates listed yet. Tons of coppertone listed for 6/2 but I have family here then..........wish they would move it off dates!!:rolleyes1

Was anyone approached yesterday by someone saying that their stove was not working so they needed stuff easy to cook?

My friend and I are just trying to figure out if this was an audit question.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've had worse events - like the vomit near my food table event - also a WM management problem. Any way :rolleyes1

For those people doing upcoming Hungry Jack, yes, I learned my problem. Do NOT put the lid back on after adding 1/2 & 1/2 and cheese sauce mix. That's when it overflows. Its a real ugly mess to clean up.

Kpauley, yes I use a plastic table clothe under microwave AND toaster oven. No heat at all from my microwave. A tiny bit of heat from toaster oven but not enough to cause any problems. Just check yours. I started out with fabric, but it stains & I couldn't get it clean.

Mama3princess, count me in as another Coppertone till I puke. I have a quite week, but starting 5/5 - 5/11 I'm working 6 events in 7 days. 4 of the 6 are Coppertone & I have more later.

Good luck with all your doubles everyone! So how does this work? Are you doing 2 events at same store or different stores? Did you contact SPI or did they contact you? How many hours of a 5 hrs shift do you really have to work? And do you still get paid for the 5 hrs?

I did the Yoplait/Soy Milk this weekend. The Yoplait was great. The soy milk didn't go over too well. There were 3 other demos going on and not one of them had a hat or bouffant on.:rolleyes1 I know 2 of them were with MC because they had their supply boxes sitting in the carts next to their table!!! They tried to talk me into taking home what was left. :scared1:

This week I have the Yoplait/Soy milk at another WM. This weekend I have Coppertone and Hershey's anti oxident bars.
Did anyone notice in the coppertone instructions the hat wasn't listed?

The first time, Taylor contacted me to do another event at the same store I was scheduled for. She told me to work 3 1/2 hrs for each event and I would be paid 5 hrs for both. I have since contacted about doing double events at different stores. She won't book me until a few days ahead of time in case someone else wants to book it.

The hat is not listed, but the apron is. Now why would you wear an apron over the T-Shirt they're supplying? :confused3

Has anybody received their Coppertone kit yet?

No kit yet, unless it's on my porch when I get home from work.

A hat is never required for a non-food event.....at least I've never been required for wear one for any events I've done and I only do non-food pretty much!:thumbsup2
And I'm sure you only wear your apron if your kit w/ your T-shirt does not show up.
I'm thinking I'll end up wearing standard attire anyway because unless the L and XL shirts run small, they'll both be too big for me.

I did my first event yesterday at a super wal-mart. It was the Hungry Jack potatoes. Oh my gosh! As soon as I could make it, it was gone! It was great. I already have 8 more events booked. If it wasn't for this thread, I would have had no idea what to do so... :thanks: party:

Glad it went well for you.:thumbsup2 Cooking events for first timers are difficult. My first one was Warm delights it went well but very messy.

I agree with this. That's pretty much what I've experienced when given a shirt. Only need apron is you can't wear the shirt. Hat not needed...unless you want to for some strange reason. ;)

Just got home from the grocery and found 1 of 2 Coppertone boxes. Has anybody just had a partial shipment show up before? I'm wondering if the FedEx delivery person just didn't leave the second box. Anyways, the box I received had everything but the Pampers. The T-shirts aren't too bad. They're white with just the words Coppertone suncare products on the front and the back has a larger print Coppertone with the girl having her bottoms being pulled down by the dog. Also, there is a tan Copperton hat.

I just received a phone call from Sunflower Group. I was referred by the former WDW MK lady. :goodvibes They are mailing me an app. But she went over some of it with me. They pay $13.50 / hr ($81 for 6 hr event - usually 10am to 4pm) IF event done on scheduled date & you used their debit card. They also pay appliance fees. They pay a $50 referral bonus.

BUT, you'll be an independent contractor with them which means NO taxes will be taken out. Now, I'm also wondering about liability insurance issues. :rolleyes1 (sorry, can't help it -- lol)

I guess I'll need to go visit Volition to do some research. I think the WDW lady said this company uses a fax (if you want) to report & you get paid the same week by direct deposit.

Interesting. I always see a Sunflower person when I go to WM. There pay is in-line with MC compared to Promoworks. The liability, insurance issues are a good point to look into.
