Want opinions from the political dis'ers

My friends and I have been talking, and they think I am a Republican at heart! As someone who's always categorized herself as a liberal, you have no idea how unnerving this is for me, so I thought I'd ask all the political dis'ers exactly where they would categorize me.

Here's where I stand:

I do not believe the gov't should regulate business

I do not like unions

Pro-Choice

Anti- Death Penalty

Marry who you want and be happy (with all the same "perks" that every married couple receives)

Jobs, scholarships, etc should be given to those with the qualifications to do those jobs and no other reason.

I have the right (and so do you) to say whatever the heck I want

Kids today are out of control because they're allowed to be...behavioral theorists irritate me

My best friend says he thinks I am actually an anarchist, so that's a possibility too I guess...

Don't want to offend anyone...you're most certainly entitled to disagree with any of my stands...just wondered where I fall...

I've always thought of you as a liberal on here.

We have a very vocal, dominant group of conservatives on here that seem to out shout the liberals. Except for Arabella Fig who no one else can win with.

I think any liberal on here comes off sounding extreme compared to them.

In my experience, an individual's political views are difficult to classify as a whole.

Actually, I agree with Maleficent on almost all of those issues, though some on here might think me slightly to the right of Atilla the Hun

Mal, I think you may lean more toward Liberterian (check them out) than liberal. I don't think labels really do well in defining anyone because despite appearances, we are all a mixture of a number of different and sometimes conflicting perspectives.

Define "regulate business" ? Businesses MUST have some regulation (or do you think Union Carbide should be able to dump whatever they want into their local rivers?). It is not always in a businesses best fiscal interest to act in the best public interest (in other words, if a company doesn't want to hire black people, do you think they should have that right ?). Well, this would get you kicked out of the democratic party in WV, but here's a secret (*whisper* I don't really care for them either). I think they've probably outlived their usefulness in a lot of ways. Not a determining factor

Again, companies are not always going to act in the best interests of the public. Should Wal Mart be able to have an unwritten policy stating that women should not be promoted above a certain level ? Conservative

The only amendment that matters to conservatives is the 2nd, so you would certainly not qualify Liberal

Not a determining factor I've known plenty of liberals that believed the same way, several left of even me (if you can believe that )

I would say that you are a clear thinking , independent who makes up her own mind, and does not give a rat's behind what a particular political party says. I personally think that's the best way to be. Weigh each issue as it comes and choose for yourself.

I have a question and I am not trying to be condescending - this is a legitimate question.

How can someone be pro-choice but anti-death penalty.

I mean...both topics deal with taking the life of a human being.

By the way to keep the topic straight I am both Pro- Choice and Pro Dealth Penalty.

I took a quiz awhile back that asked you all sorts of questions, then it chose the candidate that most suited your beliefs. I have no clue where I saw that, but I'll do some looking around and see if I can find it again. In the meantime, maybe someone else knows about it? I might have clicked a link from here, but I wouldn't be able to swear to that.
