Want opinions from the political dis'ers

logically, there cannot be any such thing as governmental control of excessive liberty. the idea of liberty implies liberty for all. Therefore real liberty impedes no one person from freedom until that person impedes someone elses liberty. so, it does not control excessive liberty, it promotes liberty for all by punishing those who limit others' liberty. I'm of the belief that centrist actually stand for nothing. They are pragmatists who want to make everyone happy. I do not mean this as a personal attack, but rather a general observation.

As for immediate implementation of libertarian ideals. I say go for it. Yeah, there would be some anarchy for a bit, but people would finally realize that they must get off of their duff, get to work, or starve. Our police could secure real criminals instead of busting people for pot. The profit will be taken out of street drugs because it would be legalized, more readily available, thus driving the price down (i do not use & have no desire to), & removing much of the crime from the streets. Sure, more junkies would die, but eventually (5 years or so) things would begin to level off in terms of order. Quite frankly, I think it would be worth a try. Sorry for the ramble...a little stream of consciousness for the masses.

I don't take that as a personal attack at all. I feel I come out at a centrist because I don't always take the authoritarian roll on all issues, and I don't take the libertarian roll on all either. I go both ways, depending on the question being asked. For example, I am pro life and pro death penalty, but I am absolutely against NAFTA and I believe that we should have policies regarding imports that take advantage of various labor laws. I feel not having these, keeps countries like China down and keeps America uncompetetive. Now, you don't have to agree with my perceptions, but to say that centrists stand for nothing is a bit ridiculous IMO.

Okay, I came up almost dead center on one and on president match I got 0% on every candidate. Looks like I'm screwed no matter who gets elected. Woe is me.

It looks like you're another centrist that doesn't stand for anything.

As for the 2nd quiz, try it again, but on the very last page where it asks something like if you need your president to have prior political experience and/or military experience and where it asks democrat/republican, leave both of those empty and see if you it turns out any better.

Ok, so I took both quizes. Me, The Dalai Lama and Ghandi are in the same area - DH says I'm a hippie at heart, who knows.

Second one was 84% Kucinich, 75% Kerry, and 8% Bush (ThreeCircles I have you beat, I'll be scrubbing with anti-bacterial soap!)

I've got to get DH to take them, he's more conservative than I am! I did find this one question amusing
First-generation immigrants can never be fully integrated within their new country.
DH is first-generation immigrant and I swear he's more American than I am. The man made the rest of us listen to Lee Greenwood on the 4th! He's

Don't miss behind the ears! ;)

I'd say you're more conservative. I consider myself a far right winger but I'm anti-death penalty, pro gay marriage, pro affirmative action, and a big time enviromentalist. But my views on taxes, abortion, and defense cause me to vote Republican.

60% Bush
54% Kerry

And I'm right/libertarian

I have a question and I am not trying to be condescending - this is a legitimate question.

How can someone be pro-choice but anti-death penalty.

I mean...both topics deal with taking the life of a human being.

By the way to keep the topic straight I am both Pro- Choice and Pro Dealth Penalty.

~Amanda

I have often wondered this myself. I'm against both except in extreme circumstances (ie. heinous crimes like the brutal slaughter of children where there if solid DNA proof, or for abortion if the life of the mother is in danger).

I guess some on the right argue that abortion kills innocents; death penalty kills criminals who have, by choosing to commit a crime given up their right to live/be free.

Some on the left say no human should take life away from another human but all babies are not alive until the day they are born therefore they are not people anyway, even if they could survive outside the womb, the way preemies do.

Kerry 57/ Bush 53

I could go either way. I'll probably vote for Bush but Kerry will almost certainly win MA anyway since he's from here.

I actually don't like either one of them. I think Bush is tougher on security than Kerry will be and I care a lot more about that than I do about benefits programs. Maybe if the world climate was different, I'd be more apt to go for Kerry.

What really freaked me out was that Kucinich got 43  Yikes.

That was a great poll.

I was: Bush-90%
Kerry-30%
Kucinich-19%

Kerry 30% ! bacterial soap won't get that off
