Only 7 days to go and we still haven't made a decision yet. Are the day rooms at Atlantis worth it??? I called Atlantis reservation number today and they said they had lots of rooms left for our Nassau day. They wouldn't give me any info at all on the day rooms, they said I had to call the hotel directly (wonder what that would cost). They said the rooms were up to 4 but sounded like you could add more for the price.

There will be 8 of us in our group including two moms who are 70ish. One of them will spend the day in the casino I'm sure but thought the room would be nice for all to take a break in and freshen up after the beach and slides.

Any restaurant recommendations for very nice but not fancy places??

Is the beach worth it? We really want a nice beach experience (loved Orient Beach in St. Maarten).

HELP!!!!

my friend and i just did this and got a room there in October. If we had to do it over again, we wouldn't do this. We did not think it worth the money. The day we were there, a couple of the slides were closed, and the beach was closed for swimming due to weather conditions. So much walking around! Plus our room was way out in the back forty, and we had problems even finding it. Since there are eight of you, you would have to get two rooms!

Hi Sue!

We were on the same cruise with Sue but rented a room at Comfort Suites. Atlantis was nice to do once but I am not sure I would do it again. DD8 didn't have a friend to play with in the pools so she was bored after going down the slides. As Sue said, the seas were rough and it was very windy so we didn't venture onto the beach.

If it was just DH and I, we probably would have enjoyed it more but as it was it just wasn't worth the money to me. Others may disagree.

If you go you will need to rent 2 rooms. There is A LOT of walking and I think they put the 'day room people' in the farthest wings. It is a beautiful place with many things to do. Check out their website to decide for yourself.

We just returned after booking a room at Atlantis in advance. My kids had a great time, especially my 7yr. She was on the slides constantly, and met another 7yr old girl. If you are not going to use the slides and pools, I would say it is not worth the money. I am glad we did it once, but wouldn't do it again. The resort is absolutely beautiful. You also have to figure in $4.00/person cab ride to get there and $4.00/person to get back. We ordered food from roomservice that morning (0730) and had it in 1/2 hr. We packed a soft cooler, and did not have to buy lunch there. Food was expensive by the pool. We returned in time for our late seating at dinner. It was nice to have a big room for our family of 4 to shower and get ready for dinner too. Hope this helps you make your decision.

We rented a day room at Atlantis and had a ball. I have written a trip report and have a link to lots of picture's at Atlantis. You can do a search on the cruise line trip reports if interested. If you can't find it let me know.

Thanks Teri! Your info was helpful. I do think we will just wait and try to get a day room. The Atlantis reservation line told us we had to call directly to get info on the day room but they did tell me they still had a lot of availability. Do you think you could still possibly get a room even like 10:30-11am? We have a late breakfast and with 4 kids I'm sure it will take us a little longer to get off the ship. Also, can you just pay more per person to add to the four person max per room without having to get 2 rooms. My mothernlaw won't be doing the slides (may go in the beach) but will still be with us as a family, my mom will only be in the casino most of the time and then join us sometime wherever we are at.

Was it expensive to call Atlantis directly? I wonder if my verizon plans covers calling there?

no, i don't believe you can pay per person, and you will have to get two rooms.

Our tablemates went to Atlantis just to use the Casino. They didn't get a room, and they didn't say anything about having to pay to get in. I think the reason you want people listed as in a room is so they get access to the pools. I thought I read that they give you wristbands? So maybe you really wouldn't need 2 rooms.

oops! Edited to say that the $25 wristbands you can buy are for access to everything except the pools/slides/beach. Here is where I saw this

I wish I had more to tell you about this! I hope it works out well :)

I'm pretty sure that I have read that you have to have a room at Atlantis to have rights to use the beach and slides. It would be great if you could just buy a pass for that but the wristband covers everything but slides and beach I believe. I do realize my mom would need nothing for the casino but I'm sure she will want to come watch her grandkids and meet up with us and she wouldn't be allowed in the pool/slide area I bet .

If the 60% chance of thunderstorms on Monday for Nassau doesn't change it won't make a difference and I would've gone through trying to get all this info for nothing. But we still do have a second chance for Friday since we're doing a 3/4 day back to back.

At least you'll get 2 castway cay days! Lucky you! :) Try to get out there early, before the crowds. We got some great video before everyone else got off the ship. It's just us & it looks like the promotional video!

yes, the only way to have access to the pools, private beaches and water slides is to be a checked in guest at the resort.

Since we have late breakfast we definitely won't be early and I know we will have to fight to find chairs and all. We're not early birds so you snooze you loose right??

You can have breakfast whenever you want! It's not assigned. But believe me, I'd be tempted to sleep in if I didn't have an up with the sun 2 year old! That's the major downside to having an outside cabin. There's no telling the kid, "it's dark. go back to sleep!" :teeth:

I forgot all about not having an assigned breakfast time, whats wrong with me anyway. My girls (10&13) will sleep through anything but my boys (5&9) will be up 8ish at the latest and that is with a room with verandahs. We just keep them up late with our late seating dinner and then family karoke or family dancing. Oh, I can't wait. I've had such a very bad couple of weeks with employees that I just can't wait to have my first pina colada and see that crystal blue water next week!!

I wonder if you get a regular room booked with Atlantis if you can add more people to your room to get them priviledges. Hmm. have you ever called the bahamas by cell phone or land phone and know the cost??

We just returned from our 3-day Wonder. We went to Atlantis....they were full and there were no day rooms.....but, the guy behind the desk took $150 cash and gave us keys and told us we didn't have a room but those keys would get us to the pools........they did, we got our wrist bands (as instructed we told them that our room wasn't ready yet!....I felt like a criminal!) and played all day both at the pools and the gorgeous beach. The hassle was not having the room......no where to leave the cameras and junk we had with us.......so I was chained to my possessions all day. It was worth it but, we would not do it again. I didn't care for Nassau at all.....found the prices too high and the streets WAY too crowded for my taste. Atlantis was the only option for us......glad we did it. Won't ever go back to Nassau though!

I'm not sure if we'll have problems getting a day room or not. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the beach and pools. Do you think the pools and beach are worth it?? Why do you say everything is soo expensive there? We thought about taking sandwiches with us (room service the night before) to help save. We will be in Nassau on Monday, Saturday Christina Agullera (I know that isn't spelled right) performs at the Atlantis so I wonder if they might get last minute travelers and become full too.

Lots of people say how great Atlantis is but they wouldn't do it again. I don't get it. Is it once is enough or is it really not that great???

I meant the shopping in Nassau was expensive! Atlantis is great and everyone should see it. We have waterparks where we live......so that just wasn't something I would choose again. BUT, am glad to have seen the property AND the kids loved the pools and slides and beaches. It was probably the prettiest water I have ever seen......even better than St. Maarten and St. Thomas! I recommend going to check out Atlantis.....it is certainly a site to see!

Dana

thanks Dana for the info.

I've just been concerned when everyone says they really liked it but won't go back next time.

We don't get to the beach but maybe once a year if we are very lucky and we did love St. Maarten (Orient Beach) so I'm sure my kids will love it. I just can't wait to see it and I pray for no rain there on Monday.

Atleast if we check it out on Monday we will know if we want to go back on Friday.

Just checked Weather.com, and the high for Monday is predicted to be 78' Seeing that the room gets you into the pools and beach... I would want it to be a little warmer for actually swimming!

And, yes, I have heard that Atlantis, everything there... is expensive. $25.00per to tour the DIG (aquariums) for non-guest... $15.00 for a burger and fries by the pool. Maybe that is why those who had a GREAT time say it is worth it? but a bit pricey for just a so-so time?

We are planning on getting a day room when we cruise next year... if the weather is really great, nobody is feeling a little under the weather, etc... Then I think we would have that GREAT time! Otherwise, I do not think we will book in advance.

PS: everybody seems to agree that his place is huge, and the walking can be a killer!
