Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

Looking to book Dolphin for the first time ever with an AP discount for a few days the end of February. How does it work with the MDE app? Do you get an actual disney confirmation number? And how is transportation to the MK? Everything I keep finding online is old, and not current information. Thank you!!

The confirmation # the marriot site gives you will work in MDE. It might take a few days to take tho.

As for transportation you can take the dolphin bus to the ttc or walk over to yc/bc or bw and take one of there busses to the front of MK

Hi - two questions!

1. last time we stayed at Dolphin we didn’t have a stroller but this time we will. Are the buses able to have the stroller just roll on underneath (meaning we don’t have to take everything out & collapse them) or no? We stayed at Waldorf Bonnet Creek on our last visit and this was a huge perk with the large busses!

2. My husband has status at Marriott. PreCovid we used to receive two free breakfasts vouchers each morning. What is the deal now with covid still going on - is it a credit per room to use anywhere? Or is it still sit down breakfast vouchers? (By the end of our trip, we were just getting milk & dry cereal to get the family to the parks quicker!)

Thanks!

Has anyone had bell services send luggage from the Swan to another Disney resort? We have split stay at Swan then AKL and I’m wondering if I will need to take my luggage to AKL or if it can be sent over. Thanks in advance!

Pre Covid, I am 100% sure we did this but trying to remember the hotel path. I think it was Coronado Springs (1 night), to Swan/Dolphin (Dolphin) (week stay) to Yacht & Beach Club (1 night). We had terrible trouble finding rooms that trip at Disney hotels and also wanted to take the Magical Express. No issues and we had grocery items.

From what's been shared going from Swan/Dolphin to a Disney resort seems to have worked, its going from a Disney Resort to Swan/Dolphin that's had issues or been told they won't move, and then in some cases they have done it. In your case, I would contact Swan/Dolphin using the Mobile App, once you have it click on I'm On Property, then on Text Us! and verify they will move it for for you.

For everyone else that might move from Disney to S/D I'd check out the OP in this thread Help! Lost luggage! Left luggage but Disney never moved it. I understand Dolphins response wasn't what she wanted, but the problem seems to be on Disney's end.

Any more recent guests care to share you experience with moving luggage inbound or outbound?

I am not sure about #1 since I haven't had strollers. They use the MEARS buses for transport and I think you have to at least collapse them.

As to breakfast, the last time I was there (October) I received a voucher that was good for Fuel, Picabu, etc. There were two of us and it was worth $20. We only used it at Fuel (they open at 6 AM) as we rope dropped almost every day (and one day, I skipped and got coffee in the park instead and they let me use 2 vouchers the next day so I stocked up on snacks). I don't have any experience using it at the other places in the resort though.

Which restaurants at Swan and Dolphin require reservations?

As as far breakfast, is the fresh Mediterranean Market pretty quick since it’s a buffet? Other quick options being Fuel, Java, and Picabu? Kids like muffins and the usual pancakes, waffle, French toast type stuff.

Picabu would be ideal for your kids

The Swan/Dolphin has its own app, and it has a good restaurant section which has hours and menus.

As to reservations, I would think only Shula's and il Mulino (and maybe BlueZoo) on Thurs-Sun. And they are also on Open Table which has the ability to cancel right up until reservation time without penalty. Note that they both have dress codes. Note that they also both have lounges which don't require a dress code and no need for reservations.

Picabu is good - but don't rule out Fuel - they have Mickey Waffles and breakfast sandwiches as well as pastries.

Don't forget the Fountain for an easy dinner - GREAT burgers.

Hi again! My friend booked through booking.com and her room category specifically says: 1 Deluxe Alcove King, Junior Suite, 1 King, Sofa bed. Do you think this is the standard alcove room with one king and one sofa bed all in one room? The word Junior Suite is confusing me. Also - do any of these come with balconies? Is it worth her to inquire before she heads down?

I don't know if it's changed but when I was there in Dec. Fresh Med was a sort of hybrid buffet. There is no buffet, you can get your eggs cooked how you want and then there are some items that used to be on the buffet behind a counter into the kitchen with someone there to serve you (sort of old cafeteria style). If I remember correctly, the bread like items (muffins, etc) were also there but you could serve yourself those. You can also order off a menu. I don't remember pancakes, waffle etc. being on the buffet, but I could be wrong since I wasn't really looking for those. Picabu is pretty quick and does have what you mentioned. I've had fast and slow service there. Again, cafeteria type service like most of Disney QS locations used to be. Depending on the time of the morning, Fuel can be pretty crowded with a longish line. In Sept. when I was there with my son and his family, we had to get our breakfast sandwiches and take them out to the lobby to eat, which was fine for us since the baby was in a stroller.
