Hiya, I'm hoping if anyone here has ever done the internship at Walt Disney Studios? I want to get into that internship in post production. My concern is that I really don't have much experience and what to know what my chances are in getting in? I have some basic camera operation and I have experience in editing, I use Final Cut Pro, but not enough to have my own reel. I have done school projects can I include those? I am taking classes this semester in video production but I am hoping someone out there can give me some suggestions? I appreciate any help that anyone can provide. Have a magical day!

I applied this past year, at the end of my jr. year, but never heard anything back from them... not even a 'thanks but no thanks'... it kind of makes me wonder if they even got my application...

I plan on applying either this year or next year. It's very competitive from what I've heard and usually from the big companies you don't here back. I think they are looking for what sets someone apart from the rest.

I did an internship at the Studios back in 2007. I posted about it here, which might be helpful to you. I posted that right after my internship and I talked some about how my application process worked and what it was like to be there.

I can't answer for certain, but if you've done anything, including school projects, that apply to what you are doing then definitely mention it. Also mention the class you are taking (I'd put that one in a cover letter, the others on your resume). They know you're not going to be an expert in this - you're in college and still learning, that's why you want an internship - so I'd say you definitely have a chance.

My main recommendations would be to have a resume with all applicable experience, professional or not, and a cover letter that explains why you are passionate about post-production and want to learn more. A good cover letter can make a world of difference. Also, get your parents and advisor to look at both the resume and cover letter before you send it. I find sometimes things that make sense to a writer don't come across as clearly as they hoped, so other perspectives are a huge help. Not to mention those killer typos and grammatical errors.
