They want 10 YEARS of employment history. This is more than when I applied for a government contractor position with USCIS!

seriously? Who has the info handy unless ou worked for one company your whole life?

10 years eh?

Lets see that would be, travel agency, school district, fair housing council, and probably a couple more. I couldnt tell you exact dates though. I can probably give you the year though:rotfl2:

oh no listen to this I once applied and put available anytime day or night didn't matter. I went to follow up on it since on one had called and was told that my availability wasn't good enough. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :confused3

:lmao:

Can't be any more ridiculous than my company's app... (note, we're FAST FOOD) and have simple MATH PROBLEMS and READING COMPREHENSION on it.... We saw a sample filled out app and had to laugh at it... :lmao:

My sister went to apply at Walmart and she was so discouraged that she gave up in the middle of the application and walked out. I mean the questions they were asking her had nothing to do with swiping groceries. :sad2:

I've filled out applications that requested every job I have held since high school - I'm 59 now.. I give them my last 3 employers and that's it..

Hence the reason my mom told me she's glad she doesn't work anymore!

She said she would never be able to fill out any job applications at all for any job.

First off, they are all on the computer now. Second, she stinks at math & most of the jobs she has had didn't require any math on them at all.

For that matter a million years ago she worked as a typist and couldn't pass a test they made a requirement after she already held the job for a long time. Her boss *knew* she could do the job and so did the test orally for her and she was able to pass. I forget what the test was but it had stuff on that that didn't even relate to what she did. This was way back when though and things were certainly different. She worked for the state and basically was able to live in a dorm room with her boarding fee taken out of her paycheck.

After the application I filled out for Borders on-line, I'm wondering if I'll ever get a job myself in a couple years. I don't do so good on all those personality profile tests, I just want to answer "sometimes" to everything but it's usually Yes or No. I mean really who *always* does whatever or *never* does whatever unless it's something huge but umm..yeah...I know I've told some white lies and occassionally have walked off with a pen from work in my pocket.

I definitely wouldn't be able to tell you the last 10 years of work history & even if I did, several of the places are out of business now -- so what DO you put for contact numbers for them? They don't exist.

I applied for a job at Target and never even got a call back. I've gone to college, held jobs for years at a time, and consider myself a desired employee. The application took almost an hour to fill out. I am still annoyed by it. :sad2: :sad2: Whenever I go in there shopping and see the people that work in there I wonder why they were hired and not me. Really ticks me off. Sorry, rant over.

Me too!

Ditto! I have filled out so many in the last few months and the questions are Crazy but Target online is the worst!!! I even had 3 other people working there trying to help me imput the info and they couldn't figure it out either. Especially bad when you can't even put in the hours you want to work.

I haven't had job application that didn;t ask for you to list all previous employers

People are usually surprised about how rigorous the Walmart hiring process actually is. I always hear people say "well, I could just go get a job at Walmart" and smile to myself, because it isn't that easy.
Walmart has a career assessment test that you need to take as part of the application and it takes forever.

I did an internship at the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services and part of my job was to prepare their clients for the job applications process, including assessment tests and interviews. I had clients who failed the Walmart assessment multiple times. I wasn't allowed to help with the test, but I did read the questions and some of them had me :scratchin

I think that's the same for any of the jobs thrown around like that -- "just go work at McDonald's", etc... It's not that easy. DH had gotten laid off a few years ago & applied all over the place. It was the catch-22 of jobs, we don't want to hire you because you are over-qualified/made too much previously.

Then throw into the mix the interrogation applications they have now where you have to list your sister's cousin's boyfriend's best friend's former roomate from the last 20 years and ACK!

Way different than when DH was first hired retail back a long time ago where they did an interview with him before he even got done filling out the application and he got hired.

Heck he had gotten a Department of Defense security clearance for one of the jobs he did and it still wasn't easy.
