Walls come partially down on the Hub at MK pics

Thank you safetymom, you are the best!!! I was a little bummed that I didn't know about all this construction when we planned this trip. I knew once I got there I would be happy regardless, but it is good to know they are moving right along. The castle looks beautiful as well.....

Just wanted you to know, safetymom, how much your updates are appreciated. We come down on Thursday for our first trip to WDW, my kids are so excited(not me, though ) It is interesting how people do dress differently for the current weather. I know my family will be one of those families in shorts, I think it has gotten up to a balmy 25 degrees here today! Can't wait to visit your world, thanks again safetymom!!

Your post made me yell "YIPEE!!!!!!". DH was not so thrilled about all the green walls in the hub last night when I showed him your pictures. He will be THRILLED when I show him these tonight~!

Is the double decker bus in MK new? I don't recall seeing that before! It's in photo 16. Thanks!

The double decker bus has been there for quite a while. They have been using it for the Main Street Trolley show since the hub walls went up.

It looks to me that they have flattened the hub so there is no more curb to step up onto the hub. Is that what the construction was all about?
I think that it is a fantastic idea if they indeed did this. We were sitting on one of the benches on the hub and a little boy, 8-ish, I would guess, walked by pushing his Grandfather in a wheelchair, having a ball. Well, the boy lost control, getting too close to the curb and the Grandfater fell over sideways off the curb onto the ground with his chair on top of him and the little boy! My wife and I ran over to help them up. Tough ol' guy, that's for sure. Grandfather was fine although a bit startled and the little boy broke down in tears. My wife turned to me, after we helped them back to the rest of their family, and said "Of all of the great things WDW does to help the disabled get around and enjoy their visits, why would they have a curb in the middle of Main Street, in front of the castle, no less." Well, it looks like Disney has done it agin!! Well done!

Yes they have flattened the area. No more curb. I was always worried when it was dark and you had to step off the curb. So no more worries about that.

Safetymom,

Do you know what is happening with the handicap parade seating that was on the Tomorrowland side of the hub, closest to the mainstreet end. There use to be benches all around the Hub and that really helped for my mother who is given a GAC but does not always take a WC/ECV.

Unless there are seats behind the wall I didn't really see any seating in the hub area. I don't know if Disney has any planned either.

I'm also happy to hear about the weather-- coming from Connecticut, anything should be warm! But I'm crossing the fingers that it will be in the high 70s!
