Wall.e...

We saw it yesterday and loved it (me, DH, DS 10 and DS 7) :thumbsup2

Who would've thought a cartoon about robots falling in love could make me cry? ;)

Yep, we all loved it. DS is 4.

Hubby and I are BIG Pixar fans. DS loves watching the special features (he calls them the "ads", LOL) on the Pixar DVDs, and he now recognizes John Lasseter with the same ease and excitement as he does Mickey Mouse. I'm confident that if JL ever walks by while we're at DL/DCA our son would notice and call our attention to him. :)

When we left I couldn't help but wonder where they can possibly go next? I mean, how much more perfect can they get? :goodvibes Figured they need to go to nature now, and that we should invite the Pixar team to Tacoma so we can show them Mt Rainier and they can go from there. :upsidedow

We loved (as did the entire audience, who laughed uproariously and applauded at the end) the short film of the magician and the hungry rabbit. DS was laughing SO hard!

My 4 year old son is a HUGE fan. It's all he can talk about since we took him to see it. It's so cute to hear him say Waaaaall e - just like Wall e does.

BTW, I just got him a new Wall e swim suit at Wal Mart on clearance for $3.00!!!

He was so excited!!

My kids and I must be in the minority, because we all thought it was terribly boring.

I can't see why people think it was so great. :confused3

i enjoyed my son was asleep when we watched it so well just have to watch it again lol :woohoo:

This was the "watercooler talk" yesterday. DD and I went w/friends on Friday night. The girl from work that I was speaking to is about 27.

We loved it and amazed that there was not much need for words, really a great film and taught so much. The girl at work didn't like it at all. :confused3 :confused3

Loved the short.

I'm with you too. Becuase of the LACK of talking, it didn;t hold DD's attention. We made two trips to the bathroom, which is a sign she is bored. I think that most kids won't get the whole storyline about why they are in space, etc. I even think it should've been elaborated on a bit more. I think I enjoyed it more than DD (or DH) but I sitll thought it was not anything up to all the uproar about it. This thing has been advertised and talked about for 2 or 3 years, and I found it a big let down.

I kept asking DH too..How do they go to the bathroom if they can't walk, and where are the new babies coming from? LOL!!

And they were in space for 700 years, but the yonly showed like 5 or 6 pictures of captains. Do these people live for over 100 years?

And I am one for back story and they neer really explained why the earth was so polluted or much about why the put the WALL-E's into effect.
Not one I really am "recommending". But it wasn't all bad either.

Because of the lack of talking DD5 had so many questions. I felt like I spent the whole movie wispering to her!
She doesn't know what a trash compactor is....she has learned about planets and space in school, but doesn't really get the concept etc....we had to have a major debrief session in the car on the way home...but I think if we saw it again she might get more out of it.
She loved the short though, and laughed out loud...

DH and I loved it.. I cried at the end! I think it's my new Pixar fave.

I need a Wall-E shirt now :thumbsup2

We loved it! I was told that the movie pushed an agenda, so originally I was not looking forward to it, because I was afraid it would be a repeat of Happy Feet (which we walked out on). But I was pleasantly surprised. I do not feel that they pushed an agenda at all.
I was engrossed the entire time as was my 4 DS. I didn't think it was boring at all! We actually went back last night with some free tickets I had so that DBF could see it...he loved it too!

DD and I saw it and loved it. DH wants to see it so we will go again to see it with him this weekend.

Luckily Star Wars taught my son what a trash compactor is, LOL.

We spent the whole movie talking very low, too (whispering bugs my ears when I hear it, it's all ssss this and sss that, so we talk low and very close to each other's ears).

I don't even KNOW what interested DS, but I know he loved it. I figure he'll be asking questions over the next few weeks; he tends to think on things and ask later. :goodvibes

I read that even though there's not much *talking*, there are more *sounds* in this movie than most movies. Since my deep desire is to become a Foley sound person, I LOVED loved loved hearing all the sounds. :upsidedow

I have to say, one of the things I liked about this movie was the lack of talking. I think about the old movies (cartoon and otherwise) and how they'd let a reaction shot linger with no talking or action--that almost never happens nowadays. DH's favorite Disney movie is Jungle Book, so last summer we broke it out and watched it with the boys (at that time aged 9 and 6). I remember thinking that it started a bit slow--no big action scene, frantic movement, upbeat song, lots of talking etc., and how would they react to it? They did okay, but they were surprised I think. Kids these days are so bombarded with action action action (can't they keep the darn camera from moving constantly? :rotfl:) that I think it's good for them to have to concentrate a bit more and not have everything spelled out for them ;).

Okay, off my soapbox now, I just thought it was very cool how they were able to make a movie with so little dialogue and still get the story across through other methods :thumbsup2

Oh we can't wait to see this-but it does'nt come out here until Friday.x.

Thats kind of where I thought they were lacking. I didn't feel that the they DID get the whole story out. Especially to kids. And it was very slow moving to begin with, I thought.

My DD5 loved both Wall-E and Eve. I did have to explain stuff to her.

DISCLAIMER: Don't read below if you haven't seen the movie.

She wanted to know why everyone was so puffy. That's what she calls fat, b/c we've never taught her what "fat" means... or have used that word much at all around her, except when we talk about certain foods she can't eat because they have too much fat.

Well, I may have been at an advantage because my kids are a little older, so they were able to pick up on most of the backstory (I did have to do a little explaining but not much). I agree that there were holes, but I just let it go as most kids movies have holes in them ;). My kids assumed the earth getting covered in trash was a message--when we came back and did recycles/trash one of them said "we don't want the earth to look like it did in Wall*E" :thumbsup2

I really enjoyed the movie.

DD (6yo) liked it alot, but she did have a few questions.

DS (2yo) got bored during some points...but he's done that in all the movies he's seen. He really liked the short that played...laughed out loud!!

I think it was appealing because you did have to stay focused to the movie to know what was happening. The lack of dialogue created the "watch and see what's gonna happen next", because there were no allusions to what would happen next. I did have some of the same questions as "jenseib" regarding how they went to bathroom and such...but most movies always have lingering questions as to how and/or why things happen.

All I can say is this one has a spot waiting in my Disney movie collection....

I recommend!!! :thumbsup2
