Walking to the Resorts

I know after reading a couple of threads that it is possible to walk to a couple of the hotels from the theme parks. Can anyone tell me how do you know how to get to them, I am thinking particularly about getting transport to the water parks and if you can walk to the Contemporary from MK how do you get to it? Also when I mentioned to DH about getting off the monorail at the Comtemporary he reckoned the doors never opened so I was wondering if you could actually get off here?

You can walk to the parks from some reosrts. Contemporary to MK is one of them - we have done it and it is easy. The monorail does stop at Contemporary but you need to be on the resport monorail not the Epcot one -they are different.

You can also walk to Epcot from Beach club, Yacht club and Boardwalk and from these three to MGM studios, though this is a bit longer walk.

We have done both. OUr personal favourite is Beach club to stay. Boardwalk is within walking distance and Epcot and MGM. You can walk through Epcot to get the monorail to MK so its only AK that's not accessible "by foot" as it were.

The Epcot monorail doesn't go through the Contemporary - only goes TTC to Epcot - but the resort AND Express monorails do. Only the resort monorail stops at the resorts.

you can walk from Downtown Disney to Saratoga Springs and Old Key West.
We just walked on Saturday from Downtown Disney Westside to south point in Old Key West. A very nice walk for anyone who's staying at OKW. It was faster than taking the boat.
