Walking to HS from BWV and / or BCV

We were at BWV on Sat. Dec. 5. I went to church on Saturday night and on my way back to BWV the traffic backup getting into DHS was crazy. OP, since you are going to see the last Osborne Lights on the last Saturday of the busiest week at WDW, I think your instincts about traffic are right on. Ordinarily I would just take the bus from SSR to DHS but in this case I think I would take a taxi from SSR to BWV and walk. I would not be surprised if DHS reaches capacity.

Yeah. I am afaid all the hype is only going to build. I think holiday crowds will stick around until Sunday making Saturday night the last big blowout for the lights…the buses have to go thru the same entrance as everyone else. What I've read is that the HS parking lots have been filling up in the afternoons & they've been directing people to park at Epcot and shuttle over….if the parking is full I would think the park is not too far behind…. We'll consider the taxi to BWV idea. That shouldn't cost THAT much, right? Thanks!!

IMO seeing things at WDW more than once is different than Disney hyping the lights leaving causing huge crowds. My point is, is it worth dealing with transportation and crowd issues to see the lights again or is human nature causing us to do things that we normally wouldn't do.

That being said, DW wants to see them tonight because they are leaving, I wonder if she will think it was worth it after we try to see them.

At least Disney let people know for this, unlike SWW. For us, it wasn't the hype per se, the lights have always been a draw for us to go in December as much as anything else. The funny thing was last week nothing seemed out of the ordinary to us. The EMH night we went was relatively deserted. Then on Tue we did the H&V dinner and went to the lights 30 minutes or so before park closing. That was not overly crowded either. The time when the turn on the lights has been something we avoided after giving it a try several years ago and discovering what an insane crush of people that is. And it wasn't the last year of lights. It's still possible to see them without absolute craziness. But I do imagine the final night will be just as bad late as early.

Very true that the Lights are more crowded earlier in the evening and less crowded later. Still, at 7:00 PM on Dec. 5 the traffic was backed up to OKW on Buena Vista Drive. And that week wasn't a busy week like Jan. 2 will be.

On the 6th we took the DHS bus from AK at approx 6:30 and it passed right thru into the park without any wait at all. That was the EMH night from 8:30-10:30. It definitely varies by night and I agree the 2nd will most likely have lots of locals as well as hotel guests.

I just got back from a stay. we took the bus from vwl to hs and the driver warned us about getting to hs later than about 4:30 as buses have had 45 minute waits just to get into the parking lot because they share the same two entrance lanes with cars. It was definitely busy at the Osborne lights, with about a 10 minute shuffle in a crowd of a ton of people just to get into the exhibit. Once we were in, it was very busy, and busier compared to previous years. however, being as it is a standing/watch attraction, the crowd wasnt bad. you could move around and still get to take the attraction in and it was great.

I was there this weekend. We left the park around 7:30 and it was a MOB SCENE! The boat line was backed up to the christmas tree, and the bus line for Epcot bus was almost that far from spot 26. So while we were tired, it was an estimated 1 hour for travel either way. We walked to the international gateway from the HS and it was @15-20 minutes. We had to deal with some crowds on the boardwalk as well.

Is there a way to cut through the pool area into the resort to shave off a few minutes instead of going around the end of boardwalk resort and walking the entire boardwalk? just curious for next time. I for one had never seen the Osborn lights so it was nice even with the lines and crowds.....and I HATE massive crowds. The worst however was the hour and half it took to take the monorail to get back to BLT from Epcot.

Shortcut: When you see the back of the BW pool clown slide, take the path to the right of the slide, through the pool area and up to a breezeway that will take you out near the boat dock. It will be a lot shorter.
