Walking to Disney Challenge

Hey everyone...just to update on my progress, I'm JUST under 70 miles done. I'm getting in anywhere between 5-7 miles a day, so it's adding up. I'm really enjoying this!! :)

I broke the 100 mile mark today :cheer2: For some reason I was super motivated today and did 9 miles. Funny, I started exactly 1 month ago today, so I must be progressing at about 100 miles a month. At this rate I'll be to WDW in January. Darn, I was hoping to make it for Christmas ;) I guess I'll have to step it up a notch! This is so motivating for me because I can't wait to get home and update my signature each day- yes, I'm a dork :Pinkbounc

Wow! Karen that's amazing progress. I've only been at it for two days. It was raining last night, so I did 3.3 km (or about 2 miles) on the NordicTrak. Tonight I walked 1.62 miles. So, I still have 1184.53 to go, but I'll get there.
:wave2:

I have recently realized that I have undercalculated some of my distances. So I said to myself, not to worry just include it from now on. Nope! I am going back to recalculate so I can get in every inch that I know how to get. I need to add in my treks while at the World too. There were many.

It is fun to see everyone making progress. I hope to be showing and telling mine soon.

Wow. What a cool idea. This might help me train the 60 miles I will be walking for the 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk. I will be walking 20 miles a day for 3 days straight in October of this year. So I am going to pretend I am walking to Disney for my Training. :cool1:

My boss is doing the 3 day in Philadelphia and I considered it. I don't think I can handle 20 miles a day just yet.

I'm over the 100 miles mark, 107.62 as of 5/13. After Tuesday I didn't do much of anything in terms of walking or exercising. It's been a little hectic for one reason or another. I'll be in Washington DC tomorrow. I haven't decided if I want to clip on the pedometer and track the miles.

Ok starting with baby steps.........5.5/1225.....guess I have to rev it up a bit:):)

Have a Magical Disney Day!!

This is great! I've been trying to think of a way to get my husband to agree to another trip . . . and here it is! I just put the my address and the address of Wilderness Lodge into MapQuest - 1314 miles from my house in Kitchener, Ontario to Wilderness Lodge. I can do this! The only times I've been committed to my treadmill is when I have an upcoming vacation.
Count me in!

Well I think I have about 4210 miles to do. No way I can manage that before this August but maybe by next August.

I have done about 40 miles this week at the gym on various machines so that's a start. Only 4170 miles to go!

Since I started keeping track last week I have walked 25 miles and it is only 90 miles to WDW for me.

I walked 9 miles yesterday morning for my 3-day training.

ok, this I may be able to stick with! You've heard of Yo-Yo dieting? Well I think I am a bouncing ball! I don't stop dieting, I just keep changing plans! I'm suremy poor body is totally confused.

Looks like I have about 640 miles to do. Anyone made it to the NC area? We can virtually walk together :cheer2:

So this will be interesting. The way I am progressing, I should be just outside of Columbia, SC the 4th week of July which is when I will be moving to Charleston. So it looks like for the first month after that I will sort of be walking backwards :rotfl:

Ugh. I have been so un-motivated for the past week. I haven't felt like walking or exercising since early last week.

I forgot to clip my pedometer on Saturday when we went to Washington DC. I don't know how much walking we did at the Dulles Air & Space Museum or how far it was from the WWII Memorial to the American Indian Museum.

Hopefully I can kickstart the walking and exercise routines again tomorrow.

Well, I'm off to a slow start, only 4/1314 miles. I have decided that I am going to pay myself for each mile walked. That way, when I get there, I won't have to worry about saving for the trip as well. At the end of each week I will transfer the number of miles walked X $4Cdn into a separate bank account. I think this will be motivating to watch my Disney account grow as I get closer.

Sounds like a great day. Here is a recommendation: I can walk a mile at a slow but consistant pace of 20 minutes per mile. When I work out (karate) I estimate 20 minutes of activity equals at least a mile. Why don't you estimate the time you were walking at a consistant pace and take credit for the miles you walked.

That's my normal thought process, but due to the nature of our walking I don't think I could calculate it. I could probably find the distance from the WWII Memorial to the American Indian Museum, but then there's the Air & Space Museums (both DC and Dulles).

I just learned that work is having a Walking for Wellness signup...looking forward to more info that will be attached to our paychecks on Thursday.

I made it through Fredericksburg, VA today! :Pinkbounc

I wish I was really on my way there, I don't know if we're going to be able to afford a trip this year :sad2:
