Walking from AKL to AK

How long is the ride? The ride from OKW to DTD is about 20 minutes, is this about the same?

OK, here are some options that stick with the AKL/AK natural theme:

1) Mine Shaft: Disney could build a tunnel UNDER the savannah and give it a mine shaft theme. We could walk it or "ride" along in one of those mine cars. Narration overhead could explain how mining has adversely affected the environment while helping us get to AK faster ---- even trade-off?

2) Raging Rapids: They could create river going right through the savannah which we could ride in rafts. It could end at the front gate.

3) Catapult: OK, it has nothing to do with nature, but I'd like to see in action.

All 3 sound like viable options to me. Wait until all the AKL owners receive their estimated dues increases over the next several years! :lmao:

With the rapids idea, the thought of movie "Jurrasic Park" came to mind, floating down river while animals attack. I know they're no dinosaurs at AKL, or are there? Didn't SuperDave do a human catapult? Maybe it's at Universal and we can borrow it.:rotfl:

uh, there's a walking path from Boardwalk to Hollywood studios? Good Lord I learn something new everyday!! How long does it take? So what you're saying is that I could spend all day at HS and then go to Chefs for dinner without getting on a bus and without walking all the way through Epcot? That would be AMAZING!!!!

We found out about it in 2001 when we were staying at BC and missed the boat. DP was using a scooter (that we called and rented from a local company) and I used our suitcase strap around the base for the wheelchair that the hotel provided us with. (After 1 day of pushing DP, we realized the need to rent a scooter, but once she had a scooter, I couldn't keep up with my bum foot, hence the pullable wheelchair!).

We missed the boat to DHS because they were full on scooters so they told us about the path. We actually beat the boat there riding on the path! When staying at BWV last year we hit Epcot in the morning for F&W went to DHS in the afternoon and went back to Epcot for F&W dinner and Illuminations all without a bus! Now we both have scooters and traveled between the two in about 15 minutes.

That's the best kept secret. I keep looking for small contracts at BWV or BCV just for this convenience!

I suspect the biggest reason for not having a path between the two is security.

Have you seen the route into AK? I've not been all around AK, but I have been backstage. It appears AK has clear cut perimeter, several layers of fences and berms, and the main access has those steel barriers that come out of the roadway.

My understanding is it's because they have so many exotic animals. Apparently, zoos have huge problems with people trying to steal animals.

johno

And kill the animals. It also isn't unknown for people to decide to hop the fence and commune with the animals - usually to their peril.

Its also a longish walk. The path to DHS from BWV isn't highly used - and from AKL to AK is a longer walk. It isn't an impossible walk, but I suspect the path would be so seldom used as to really not manage to "pay" for its maintenance and upkeep in reduced bus traffic. Particularly since there would need to be much more security along that path than they have on the BW/DHS path.
